I have a set of Presto (=Eurosonics) nylonwounds, and I just had a look at the core. It does look like there is a bit of what could be silk (at least, it appears white) braided into the core, but little (at least insofar as I can see). Next to the much harder (and more abundant) steel that wont take any tension at all, but it will give some damping. It may also increase the elasticity of the steel core a bit, by allowing some lateral compression between the spiral steel strands. But synthetic cores like in the Honey, Braided or Zyex are probably more elastic.
The Presto's are supple, well balanced & very nice pizz strings, but to me the nylon/aramide wrap remains to make arco challenging. The low density wrap makes for a larger diameter string (compared to metal-wrapped steel core strings of similar tension), and that too probably helps to make them easily playable.
String height & tension are a personal choice.
