how bout them TI's? wish i could afford strings that cost almost as much as some of my basses.. mmm.,. are they that much lighter in tension and string wear with this secret alloy? if they are that good, i stand corrected! p
Are they targeting the tone of some of the brighter flats out there (like Daddario, Ernie Ball and Roto for example)? Hope they are available in 1954 size.
I keep hearing this about the price of TI's, maybe they are more expensive in the US or maybe our strings are just generally more expensive in the uk so the price difference is smaller, anyway TI's are a little more expensive than other strings here but were talking £55.00 vs £48.00 for a set of Chromes so not a huge difference.how bout them TI's? wish i could afford strings that cost almost as much as some of my basses.. mmm.,. are they that much lighter in tension and string wear with this secret alloy? if they are that good, i stand corrected! p
I would try these but unless I am mistaken they only come in 105-45 gauge, the 96-39 gauge are about as heavy as I can go with Labella's , I tried their 104-43 gauge flats once and they felt like solid iron bars despite Labella calling them there light gauge set , read somewhere that they are around 185ibs tension which to me is not low tensionKinda want to try these. I bet they'll look killer on my all black LTD. Maybe they'll bring out some more tone as well.
Hi Bruce,Hey, Jason,
Do you know if anyone has put them on a Pentabuzz? I currently have EB Cobalt Flats on it. I normally like a little higher tension string on the Pentabuzz, but the EBs are not making me happy as they age. They are just losing a little too much life, and there's not much bloom and mwah character there. If I could get something in the TI "envelope" with a little more tension (TIs are a little too low for the Pentabuzz), I'd be a happy camper. TI tapers, ha!! That would be the ticket.
Sometimes I want to give up on flats for that bass. I think Mike really does design it for those round nickel tapers, and as much as I'd like that tonal envelope in a flat (to get rid of string squeaks), I can never find one that doesn't sound a little clunky.
Resurrection time:
Im wondering about the TONAL balance of this set.
I have a set of DTFs on my P right now and found the e string clunk (thunk? Clank?) Makes the e string sound like it's from a different set. Yes, I know that's part of its charm, but not for me. Given they are only a month old so I don't know if the other strings will mature to sound like the E, so maybe that's a side question.
But, do these strings all sound similar tonally. TIs sound like TIs across all strings... That's what I'm looking for.
Any help would be great. Thanks.
