I’m curious about the compressor portion of the pedal. Is it one of the models from the hyper luminal or something new?
Good question. I only just glanced at the Sweetwater page when it was posted above and got it I my head that it had a full-featured Hyper Luminal comp inside but I must have been reading with my appetite rather than my eyes. Kinda unfortunate that there is no onboard compressor attack controls or anything, so less attractive to me than it was initially. Maybe it is the Bus comp from the Hyper Luminal as I understand that is essentially what the comp in the X7/X Ultra is

May be adjustable in the darkglass suite

Looks totally awesome. Classic Darkglass. Not something I'd buy at the moment since I'm happy with my X Ultra and still just use amps to get my clean sound. But it's nice to see them still doing this kind of format.

On the website it says the Filter is an adjustable lowpass filter for the compressed signal. I wonder what exactly that's doing. Also the Character knob says it blends in the tone shaping circuitry. Is that like a master blend between completely unaffected and everything the pedal does? Interesting.

I have no problem with it being essentially a one knob comp. The X Ultra handles that perfectly so I would trust that this does too. The blend is a nice addition. The Filter is what I'm most curious about. The description would imply that you can roll off highs on the compressed signal. Normally you'd expect an HPF in a sidechain like Origin. But this seems different, unless they typo'd it and meant to put highpass. I'm interested to see what that's about.

The predecessor (Harmonic Booster) was said to basically be an preamp/EQ. Not too different from what you'd find on an active bass. In this case I think it's a scoop (character) control with a variable mid boost.

The Filter sounds like the crossover controls on the other X pedals... except there's no dirty crossover as there's no dirty preamp. So, my assumption at this point is that it'll function as a parallel compressor.

The graphic EQ is pretty self explanatory.

I don't see any manual for it yet, so I can't see the effects block order. I'm curious if the character/mid controls are pre comp or post, and if they affect the whole signal or only half of it?

I don't really have a use for this, but I'm curious to hear what others will do with it.

Yes, this one looks awesome. I mean, I've floated away from DG. Still love the company and their products though. But this looks intriguing for sure. The OG A/O is still on my short list to recoup. So that will be back on my board at some point. Plus with the quad cortex, I'm still not really on the market for anything like the LBU. Def looks pretty cool regardless.

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a Microtubes Infinity and I'm a bit disappointed with the multiband distortion.

The reason I chose it instead of the ADAM or PHOTON was precisely the multiband distortion.

I’ve previously owned the X, X7, and XU pedals, and they are definitely my favorite Darkglass pedals. It's very easy to get a good tone with those pedals.

I believe one of the reasons for this is that the Infinity doesn’t have the “Low Level” and “High Level” controls. Additionally, the “Low Pass” and “High Pass” work differently on the Infinity compared to the X pedals.

Since I haven’t been able to get a tone I like with the multiband distortion, I’ve been using the other modes.

Has anyone had the same perception or does anyone have any advice?

The multiband overdrive in the Infinity gets close to the X series of pedals, I would say about 90% there. I still prefer my X7 for those needs. But I find setting the high and low pass filters within the Infinity to the same as my X7 pretty much gets there in that regard. The other thing I would say is play around with the blend knob. When it came to getting the multiband drive just right for me on the Infinity, the blend knob was the key. Small movements until I found the sweet spot did the trick. Hopefully you will find your sound on there.
