One of the reasons I dislike Fender, the company…yeah, I'm about as serious as a Vegas wedding.

In my case it is, when discussing the USA basses. I can easily get under $2k and still have a bass far better than an Elite.

Like me, when I modded a 1965 Candy Apple Jazz bass in excellent shape. Well, it was long before the collector's insanity of today.

I am one, there are very few basses of the shelf that do it for me. G&L does, but that's only because I can order it with the options i like.

They do, both Mexi and USA. $500 for a USA Fender neck makes a USACG or Warmoth look like a bargain, as they are leagues better.

Awesome!! :)

Great deconstruction and explanation per subject on my quote!:hyper:

I don't have any negativity to share but I will throw a glitter bomb. "Big Gay Al" is thimply faaaaa-bu-louth! So there.

I like Fenders, I like matching headstocks, but this one doesn't do it for me personally. I think the painted headstock with maple board is a hard match, but due to their success with the PJ with the same color they probably took the leap. To each their own, I am sure there are plenty out there who dig it. For me, I dig my sunburst deluxe but have to deal with that miserable maple headstock. Life is full of hardships.

I guess it's a subjective thing. I don't see any issue with the painted headstock/maple board. Every time I see someone complain about that matchup I try to see something wrong with it and I just cannot. Rosewood or Ebony would look better for sure, but maple doesn't look bad at all.

I even like this one.//

Not a fan of AC, not a fan of purple but that looks great!
Yeah, even with the maple fretboard.
I'm not an AC fan either really, just like the bass...and matching headstocks, even on maple sometimes.

yup...I don't like U2 at all, don't like A.C., not even big on the color purple but the AC purple sparkle JB looks pretty good. I had one in my cart at Reverb for a week or so. Yesterday I saw Wilcutt guitars had a sale so I ordered it. I probably won't have much of an opportunity to play it out as it doesn't really fit with the genre Im playing now unfortunately.

Doesn't matter the genre, play it anyway.

The greatest breakouts are usually those where you hit on something DIFFERENT
than what anyone else is doing. Take a page from David Bowie.
STOP being comfortable. Who knows, it might just make ya famous ;)

I'd also lay odds that at least 3 chix will chat you up about the change as well ;)

I'm saving mine for show tunes lol. I play any of them anywhere. I look like a blur anyway.

People that buy Fender Basses are looking for a Particular, canned sound.
You buy a Pbass because you will get the Pbass SOUND from it.
You buy a Jazz because you get that particular SOUND from it.
Mass-produced, assembly-line Leo Fender slabs of wood with paint.
That's what Leo brought to the table...solidity...a base to work from...
to get to the next level you have to take that basic sound and add pedals,
add amps, and skill of playing to really wring out the best from that Bass.
But first you have to learn the basics and really play just the bass ;)
Then get all funky & wild & magical!! Toss in some Jimi licks!!
Steal from EVERY stringed instrument!! Why? Why the funk not??
Opening up your instrument with techniques created for other instruments
tends to be rather liberating! Keep an eye on Buckethead...ya never know
what that squirrel will do next ;)

Develop a SOUNDSCAPE! Make the grandest, most epic bass lines ever!!
Then bring it back to basics and see where it leads...Clapton-esque...
Sheehan the bleep out of it!!

Above all, have FUN with it!
