use a very long cord or go wireless if you can. If it's a big stage, you should run around and try and cover every inch to engage the crowd.

hang out backstage and talk to the other bands, get to know people, it can help in the future.

wear shoes that won't slip, sometimes those festival stages are covered in spills and muck by the time you get on stage, so be sure to wear good grippy shoes.

if things sound weird during your set, go stand very close to the drummer so at least you two can lock in and sound good, even if the sound is bad. (unless you are singing, then you are screwed)

if you share a backstage room / tent with any other bands, hide your beers because they will all be gone when you get off stage.

have fun!

Congrats

Since there's been a ton of great and practical advice here already, let me offer this...

#1 rule of festivals

No freeform jazz explorations!

Namibia is on my my bucket list for the desert plants which evolved in parallel with those in the deserts in the americas.
now would be a great time to come as we are finally getting rain after like 4 years. if you look out over the desert its like a football pitch of green with these mountains sticking out. there's also a farm in the south that has a pan of lillies that only grow there for 5 days if the pan is full of water. there are many pans there but only 1 pan grows the lillies. the pan is +- 4km by 2km so as far as the eye can see there's just these beautiful white lillies. plus there's good beer thanks to the Germans

That sounds beautiful. Namibia has some very exotic plants and is safe destination.. I spent 3 years on the Congo in Soyo.
I will be back in the Chihuahua desert this week and the cactus bloom is under way.
