P bass Shootout Sound Comparison Video

I just had a chance to have all of these beautiful basses at the same time in my studio for a weekend.

I used it to make a sound comparison video of 6 Precision type bass guitars, 5 Fender and an alien - Maruszczyk.
Always wanted to test different eras and different price range P basses.

Let me know what You think about it :).

Smooth playing! My favorite was the 68

I expected to watch 20 seconds of this and turn it off, but I watched the whole thing. Great job!

The '68 was my favorite, followed closely by the '62 Reissue. The CS was really cool. The big surprise for me was the Nate Mendel. It sounded great. I didn't dig the '79 except on the slap stuff. The Maruszczyk didn't do anything for me. I didn't feel that low-mid grunt that you get with the other basses. It's hard to go wrong with any of them.

Thanks for watching almost half an hour

The natural one is a little brighter than the others. And, the cream with the Aguilar is the only one that sounds any different. Kind of "smoother" if you would. Great video though.

Fantastic job! I thought all of the Fenders sounded very good. The bright tone of the Maruszczyk was an outlier, and frankly I didn't much care for it.
Of the Fenders, my favorites were the '68, the Custom Shop and the '79. I liked the '79 best when the tone knob wasn't on full. But the other Fenders also sounded excellent, just different shades of the same basic P-Bass tone.

@_Obra_ , sorry if I sounded insulting about the Maruszczyk. I'm sure it's a good bass; it just doesn't have the traditional P-Bass tone I was expecting in this video. I hear a lot of good things about the brand. No offense intended.

First off, wow! I wish I could play like that. Nice mix of styles and songs to showcase them all. My favorite was the Fender Custom Shop Postmodern in every instance. That's one of the best sounding basses I've ever heard. I didn't care for the Maruszczyk at all. Too thin and trebly for my taste. The rest were in between. I think the real star here is the player, not the basses. Excellent video!

Nice @_Obra_ ! Thanks for posting this!

All sounded great. The ‘68 was my fave - nice and round - and also the CS Charcoal Frost. The ‘79 Natural kept hooking me in as well with its twangy-growly mix.

I’ll take a shot at the Blind Test:

1 - ‘79 Natural
2 - ‘68 SB
3 - Jake
4 - Nate Mendel
5 - CS Charcoal Frost
6 - ‘62 RI

First in - if I’m right do I win one of them? :)

Thanks @friend33 :)
If Your answer to the Blind Test is right, I could offer You a drink in my home town at any time, and also a title of Pbass Grand Master Expert, but unfortunately, Your answer isn't correct :(.

I chickened out by the blind test...I knew I would come unstuck....as I cannot deny that I partly listen with my eyes and brains pre judgement..
