Double Bass Paul Kowert - Hawktail

I see my prior post in this thread was before attending a camp at which he taught.
What an amazing talent, and what a great guy. So generous and down to earth. If I had more of an ego I might be embarrassed about the man-crush I have on this guy!
A couple of my most embarrassing experiences as a bassist were when - shortly after meeting him, he said, "I'll lay down a pattern, and you just solo on top of it." Yeah - RIGHT!
Then there was also trying out his bass, and not being able to even play a basic 1/4/5 in G - given his tuning.
Being able to switch between classes with him and Todd Phillips was amazing. Suffice it to say, they take somewhat different approaches.
But I still think of - and try to incorporate - things he taught me pretty much daily.
