PC Speakers in place of am AMP.

i have a rumble that i use with an mp3 player and headphones, it works great...what works even better is a small 8 channel mixer, it has better sound quality, more control and the ability to hook up a mic so i can also practice backing vocals,...i use the same mp3 player.

I use powered studio monitors with amplitube as well and it works well but in my opinion fiddling with an input gain knob, amp sim channel volume, amp sim master volume, amplitube master volume, and pc output volume is much more of a pain than plugging into my GK.
I use my recording settings
What kind of them do you have? I have tiny Fender Passport Studio (5" woofers) and it's okay for vox, electronic drums or guitars, but I don't like them with bass. I like my bass with headphones in the same audio interface though.
I use these and they can handle anything

One of the best sounding practice rigs I've ever owned was a Scarlet 2i2 and a set of logitech's from Best Buy. They were loud enough to hold their own against acoustic guitars and sounded great.
This is pretty much my practice setup - except with a 2i4 and AKGs running though Reason with a plethora of amp modelers and effects. Works great for playing along with my bands tracks.

Bonus is that my GK 1001 and Mesa 8x10 gets to stay at the practice space and doesn't move until we have a show.

I'm in the same boat with a 110lb rack and two 90lb hartkes 4x10s. Nice to be able to leave that huge rig put until show time

So I just wanted to give an update here for anyone who stumbles upon this thread possibly asking the same questions.

I have a buddy of mine who has a nice computer speaker system. A 2.1 setup similar to the one I linked, but slightly better quality.

I went over to his place to test out the sound quality of running my bass through his PC using Amplitube and coming out the speakers.

While the sound quality is better than the speakers I've been using, I did notice where it started to fall flat.

On the low notes, like an open E string, the frequency was there, but the volume wasn't. The speaker hit the note, just not very loud as compared to me hitting an A note on that same E string. That A note was way louder. So when your playing to music, the volume is inconsistent because the speakers appear to only play certain notes at certain volumes. It's still doable, but it's hard to match your music volume to your bass when your trying to focus on what you are playing.

With that being said, I did pick up a Fender Rumble 25, and it is quite different than the PC speakers (Obviously). The music coming through the Aux input on the amp isn't as good as I'd like. (Through headphones it's great) But I split the difference and got that 2.1 speaker setup, along with the amp. Now if I want to jam out with some volume, the music goes through my 2.1 system, and my bass goes through the amp. The quality is fantastic.

Trying to run Amplitube out my PC to the Aux input on the amp didn't really give the quality I was looking for however it may be better if I tweak the settings a bit on Amplitube, I just haven't gotten around to it.

Regardless, I have a setup now that works great. Again I appreciate the feedback you guys provided me, and in the end you were right. Nothing substitutes a good bass amp.

You need to tweak with EQ to make music on your bass amp sound amazing, but you most likely need a tweeter for that. My Peavry KB 60 (actually a keyboard amp) handles music very well. I use it for music every day and it kicks ass. My neighbors hate it kek

Some fellow members use guitar+bass amp combo for music. I played music on guitar amp once, it was ok till we started playing some bass heavy music, speaker just started farting and we turned it off. Luckily it was not damaged. Bass amps rule lol.
