A British rock critic of the day accused The Clash's Joe Strummer of being "the sort who writes everything in caps" and Strummer sheepishly conceded the point.
WORKED FOR JOE!
WORKED FOR JOE!
Maybe he dropped a bottle of Viagra on the keyboard and he's just waiting for the SWELLING to go down.I kind of want to edit all the caps lock out of this thread. But... i'm lazy.
I'm wondering if that's actually a Fender Custom Shop bass or something else entirely. The logo on the headstock isn't very clear. One of the reasons for my doubts is that I've seen a very similar bass offered by Bluesman Vintage, complete with two T-bird style pickups. This bass in particular made me think that Pino's bass might be someone else's handiwork.
I guess this Pbird is set up & based on a Palladino signature : you can clearly see the CS decal on the back of the headstock on the d'Angelo live session @Bonaroo this year ( sadly no longer on YT ).
The back of the body ( the lack of painting) is also really similar to the one on the CS Palladino Signature
I switch between my mij Jaguar dlx and my mim Jazz dlx quite often and find the neck profiles to be nearly the same, except the Jaguar neck feels a bit thicker.Yes he is quite giant-like, but Jaguars also have tiny necks.
Pino spoke about this bass, in a Bassplayer interview. CS for sure.

I have a P bass also and a 1/4" wider at the nut certainly feels different after playing a Jazz bass, still it's only a quarter of an inch. The difference is clearly not so great that the thinner Jazz profile neck would look any smaller across a stage, nor would it make Pino look like a giant. The man is just tall and has big hands, like Chris Squire any 34"scale bass would look small in the hands of someone that size.Which is still small in comparison to a 1.75 nut width and the chunky necks some P basses have.

This thread Pino Palladino's Height | TalkBass.com gives a general consensus that he is around 6'5"-6'7".I never realized how enormous his hands are.
