Serious answer: Depends on the venue. Dress like the predicted customers, only a bit better.

If it's a venue where real cats sometimes show up, dress *right*, wear your deodorant and play like you mean it. That's how one gets gigs.

as an open mic is a microphone uncovered with any windshield muff, that mic is by definition ... naked. If it has a "puff-protection" on, well, you should wear one too!
