I think we have enough people into recording on talkbass that we can start one of these threads. The Studio's posted here will most probably be small home studio's like mine. But whatever you have post it up, and if you got time, tell us what Software Hardware your working with.

Mine, nothing fancy:

3.2 GHz AMD Windows XP machine, 1 gig RAM, 80 and 160 gig HDDs
Creamware Pulsar soundcard (kind of a dead-end platform, in a way--doesn't even have XP drivers--but I'm not gonna toss it while it's still working)
Alesis AI-8 analog-to-ADAT converter
Event speakers (damned if I can remember the model) and Sony headphones (IIRC, HDRsomethingsomething06, or not)
Logic Platinum 5.51
Mackie Tracktion 2

i'll give this a shot but i dont have any pics yet (my room is a mess)

software:
SONAR 4PE, Project5 2, Izotope Ozone, SampleTank, Amplitube, Guitar Rig, Battery 2. on the Mac Mini, i just use GarageBand i dont use it for anything other than playing around with since i dont have an A/D Converter for the Mini.

Hardware:
Dual Core Pentium D 3Ghz with 2x800Mhx FSB (I just bought this and am still setting it up) with 1 GB of RAM (more to come). Emu 1820 Audio card, Shure and AKG mics, Presonus Tube Pre, M-Audio MIDI Controller.

Alesis SR16 drum machine
Philips CDR775 Audio CD recorder

I just replaced my old Yamaha MD8 with the AW1600 which has an internal effects processor and CD burner. Of course that now eliminates the need for the Alesis Nano effects and the Philips CD recorder.

MZ, I'm IMMEDIATELY jealous of that cinema display. Wowza!

I'm not sure how space contstrains you, but have you ever considered moving the monitoring area away from the wall and form under the "cave" created from the shelf?

Anything played through those Rolands must sound pretty nice, but you'll get a much deeper and accurate (less acoustically colored) sound field if you pull the monitors away from the wall about 2-4 feet.

GEEZ I'm SO jealous of that cinema display!!! Haha. I'm surprised no one else is showing off their Powermac?

Thanks for the tip,
I dont know if ill be able to move em a whole 2-4 feet away from the wall, cause they would be hanging off the table by then
Ill see what i can do though thanks!

Oh and the cinema display is very nice... I was in the mac store this weekend, And seeing the 30" inch display next to my 20" was crazy. Those things are HUGE!!

The first time I saw a 30" was at the Apple store in Chicago. Twas the world premiere night of OSX 10.4, Tiger... They had the dual 2.5GHz powermacs running dual 30" monitors. It was SPECTACULAR!

that is a beautiful studio jean, i like those clean simple studios. I get more work done in slick situations.. and that there is beautiful.. Damn, i wouldnt know which bass to pick up!

Snap (well, almost - change N-track for adobe audition, cubase and nuendo - and the speakers and thats basically what I use)
