Questions about Tech 21 VT Bass 500 head

??? Really? I play lead guitar and and generally for band shows use a mic'd tube amp. When the drums and bass get louder so do I. That will change my level at the board. Everything changes once the system gets turned up and the place fills with people. I've never had a sound tech make an issue of it. The reality is that the skill level of most sound techs is usually not very good. We did an indoor gig at the Hard Rock Casino in AC last year and were told to keep the stage volume very low. Okay. So we do the check and we play soft. We start playing and now all I hear is kick drum coming from the gigantic Meyer sub's that are on each side of the stage. It obliterated the entire onstage sound.

Moral of the story is the sound tech just wants to make their job as easy as possible. They're supposed to be mixing not micromanaging what's happening on stage. It should be a cooperative effort not a dictatorial one. Don't get intimidated by someone that tries to bully you to cover up their lack of skill.
Agree with ALL of that. Good sound guys are active. They work at it and it shows. The lazy ones bug me and do the bands no favors.

Regardless of how it "works for you", this is what works for me (40+ years, seedy bars to a stadium of 40,000) in my situations.
Soundmen love me and I keep it that way. Its just one less thing for them to think about.
The bottom line is most amps either have it this way or it is switchable. There must be a reason?!
Given the tech is not a problem, why not have the option?
Like I mentioned before, Quilter has had so much complaint about not having it (D.I. pre master),
they've said they're probably changing it in the next series of 800's.
It must not be just me...…...

Like I said, I love the tone of the Amp.
But maybe if the seemingly popular option of a pre master/post EQ D.I. were available,
there wouldn't be so many of these on the used market right now....
Because the Amp itself is great.

Bottom line, no more debate.
This is what works for me.
(And judging by the market, apparently a whole lot of others)
