I recently researched and tested a few delay pedals to choose one as a birthday gift for my brother who plays lead guitar. The MXR Carbon Copy Analog won my little shootout. It only has three knobs and a modulation button but the simplicity makes it straight forward and easy to use. It's best feature is the gorgeous warm decay tone. Not sure if David Gilmour used the Carbon Copy on his "Comfortably Numb" solo but I think that solo best describes the sound of this pedal.

I played around with it before I gave it to him and was surprised that the warm tone sounded pretty good on the bass. Don't turn the knobs up all the way or will oscillate until you turn it down or the battery runs out.

Earthquaker Devices' Dispatch Master has a nice dark carbon copy-ish delay along with lush and spacious sounding reverb in one MXR-sized pedal. Lives on my guitar board but is a blast with bass too!

It sure is. I have been using it more and more. A very tight delay really brings out slap parts and of course this pedal can get very lush as well.

I've just quickly tried the presets and I'd say odds are good this will be a favorite for a *lot* of people. :)

I have a TC Alter Ego 2 and just sold a Flashback, and both are very capable with the Toneprint function but maybe a bit "safe ". The Nemesis on the other hand, is inspirational.

So Earthquaker devices - Dispatch master has been mentioned, and Ive been looking at this pedal.
I notice Earthquaker has another pedal called the Avalanche Run. Is this pedal the same as Dispatch Master and more?
