No one has brought up Martin Denny yet.
A lot of dads and moms in the late 50s would have had this one, "cocktail party" music. Seems like version in either stereo or mono were available clear up into the Beatles. Pretty much seems like mono was phased out around '67.

Mono was definitely done for by ‘68.
Denny, as well as Arthur Lyman and Tiki music in general, had a big comeback in the 90’s. Along with Esquivel…

Some of the cheesy orchestral interlude music on the Moody Blues’ Days Of Future Past reminded me of “Holiday…”.
I like this version better, it explores the darker side behind the facade of that era…

Yep. Sounds like summer vacation with the David Lynch family.
(Yikes, that keyboard part just kicked in: Farfisa on Owlsley. And back to pizzicato for the outtro. Very nice.)

I caught a little bit of that revival, saw Esquivel's name but didn't know that music.
That last track, Musicmakers embodies all of the hallmarks of that little window, you can't even say over the top, it was just what it was.
So that whole little era, the studio, the electronics, the fascination with the stereo effect, lastest like...maybe 3-4 years(?)
I actually think I remember reading Brian Eno commenting on how those were some of the first recordings to utilize the studio as a primary element of the music itself.
Some of the stuff by Enoch light too, the Percussion series (Persuasive, Provacative).
Echoes later, and in the stuff by John Zorn.
It never dies....just lives on in other minds.....bwahhahhah.
