Rickenbacker in a drop tune set up

WHat about that fella in the band Om? Doesn't he use a .125 on a Rick 4003?
He's also in the band Sleep, an example posted earlier.

Ok, cool, all good info guy for sure! and some stuff to consider, like turning the saddles around, ill have to keep that in mind. What I mean by drop tuning is not just drop D or BEAD... the tuning my band uses is C F# C E so it's a little lower than most of what was mentioned above. Thanks again!
BEAD is lower than CF#CE.

Have any of you guys had sucess going to BEAD or around that tuning while keep the covers on the bridge pickup ? Would drop tuning still work with a horseshoe or hi gain cover ? It's funny after years of playing other basses always dreaming of owning a Rick... I absolute love mine now and like Lemmy I've have grown accustomed to having the cover there. At first I hated it. Than I adjusted and now I like it being there. To me it adds so more clank and changes the tone some. Plus it reminds me constantly the benefits of moving my picking spot from the neck to the bridge and everywhere in between to get a better sound depending on the part I'm playing. I'm also addicted to Horseshoe pickups now. For heavier music with some gain I really enjoy the tone. Anyone tuned down with the bridge cover on and had sucess ? If so any tips or string guage suggestions ?
