Safe to Ship a Heavy Cabinet ?

Years ago I found this Markbass CL152 on MF used. They said the cab was bent or out of square or something like that. I knew this cab hadn't been available in the US for quite a few years, but whatever, I ordered it 'cause I always wanted a 215 cab but they were either too expensive or too heavy, and this one was about 72lbs.

Anyways, it came in a bent-up box, I took it out, the front cover was pushed out, so I took it off and the speakers were hanging out of the speaker holes, barely held on by one or two wood screws to the baffle board. This cab was never played, brand-new, just damaged in shipping probably (just guessing) bounced around in shipping to the previous buyer, then back to whatever warehouse, then to me.

Keep in mind this sold for $999 new way back when. The whole cab, including baffle board is some flake board material, not even MFD quality, just some really crappy stuff, which probably helps with the weight, but the baffle board? Argh... anyways, I replace the baffle board with quality plywood and it's a wonderful cab now. I paid $483 shipped, plywood was free, and I did put some casters on it.

You can maybe see some dents in the edges and where the cab is kinda bent in on the side, but it's not too noticeable. :)

Again here is a good reason for the two and 4-10's. The magnet weight and basket depth work together to make a much more robust system that takes jolts better. That monster magnet out on that long basket of that 15" woofer of mine made the magnet get cocked and the voice coil scrapes. That is until my attempted re-alignment with a prybar. I had to cut the dust cover off so I could see the progress. That process caused it's own damages, and the whole abused mess got JB Weld filled in the resulting gaps between the magnet and basket. I can now use the speaker at home but if I were able to do any other use I would never trust it. I actually managed to get the buzz out but the coil still sits slightly offset to one side and probably not tracking along the magnet slug it sits over.

Those smaller 10" drivers have the advantage of less leverage to magnify impact force and the shorter trusswork would be much stiffer. I shouldn't be worrying nearly as much then, but looking at the 15" suffering such damage is freezing me up.

Not looking good so far. It sat 35 miles away, overnight, then went south 100 miles sat overnight, 1:30 in the afternoon and still not even locally received or on the truck as usual. Had it been some cheap junk it would have been strainght through.
This has to be my last try at shipping more than a few pounds. Where's it being boom bang tumbling now ?

4:05 still not on the truck, how predictable. I really do not feel so good about this purchase mistake, where is it tumbling to now ? I'll just send it back and take the shipping loss. It has lost it's appeal. Someone probably saw this thread and wanted to play cute. I knew it would be like this.

Why so darn negative? We ship thousands of cabinets with less drama than this one is bring you.

It may still get here, but it left Cincinnati I think 6:30am, 1.5 hour drive to Dayton and left the tracking roster, nothing on it. Maybe someone saw the Ampeg logo on the box and stole it ?

I'll just go back to my DIY cabs and amps even though they are zero competition to any major music amp systems company, they just don't have the worry factor. I could never own a luxury car and watch all those scratches and dents appear again. I went through THAT every new car I had. Once, I only made it from the dealer to get a haircut and got door dinged. Never again will I buy a new car and go through that.
If I ever buy another amp or cab, it will be one I can inspect at a music store.

One thing I hear from people is I refuse to give them an offspring to monkey beat.
The reason again is I refuse to give them a child to torment.
And wow, sick with a cold and got in a pack attack that caused me to panic and go over speed a bit to make my turn off, a car pulled up and prevented me from changing lanes. Well, I didn't know they had that camera. So I'll give them try to get out. It's nothing but drugs fighting trouble and frame ups to those who are not liked.
I'm willing to bet it's political. I don't want to take control of this rats nest city. I'm really beginning to hate their unfairness.
Wot?

Whoa, I was very sick last night and delirious, barely knew where I was. I said a bunch of junk to ignore. I drove to the store and was shuffling around swaying, rolling my head around. Then about 2:am I got chills so bad I was violently shaking and could not stop it. So I went into the emergency room.
Sometimes the flu does that to me, I was at a hospital wandering around and had no idea where I was. A nurse took me to a chair and then I fell face into it and on the ground.
Nice to remember that one, it was funny.

I've dealt with that stuff all my life, and it's nothing. Major politicians go through a stack of problems like that all day, it just another day to them. Politicians have a very tough position to hold.

Any way I accepted the package and all is ok. The box has some scuffing in it nothing to worry about. It is packed with soft shock absorber foam inserts and has several inches between the box and cabinet. Something nice about that BA210 V2 is the wedge shape allows you to get the handle up close to your body and greatly reduces the strain of moving it.
AOK now but I need better pick-ups for the Lyons LB40. I can't give that guitar up, the neck is faster than most $600 to $1000+ basses. No joke, but of course little old me did the height and intonation.
It uses Fender style pickups, but these Lyons have a bit of coffee can sound. I need middle priced upgrades. The bridge is Fender Jazz style, the front are the split square type.
