So...Has anyone here actually beat GAS?

I'm not sure G.A.S. is some thing that be cured as much as controlled. That said...yea! I have bought enough guitars , laps and basses to understand that roll over is a way I pair down and buy something new now and then and appease the G.A.S. in a somewhat controlled manner. At the moment I want a new SRF 700 Fretless. I will need to move a couple of six strings and a Korg 16 track to fund that purchase. Another personal rule, I never use a credit card . I have an account with a debit card I use for such purchases. What I do fear is I loose interest in guitars .... It's been a 50+ year love affair so I doubt it, but the idea of not having all the fun and excitement of feeling the wanting , the research, visualization etc that goes with gassing would be sorley missed.

I'm afraid there is very little hope. I like the idea of a limited amount of basses, ideally one or two, a lot. However, I wouldn't know which of my currently 6 basses I could part with. I play every one of them, they are all very good in my ears and eyes. And there are still so many others and even more gear aside from basses!

I also own 3 geetars and a uke and am currently developing some serious GAS for an ABG and some more acoustic guitars...

The End.

I have. I took 3 years and decided to bring in almost every major brand of production and boutique bass as well as amps and cabs. I labored over it picky elements of tone, responses nose... send each at home, on gigs, in the studio. I decided I to keep what I feel is the best.

5 basses, 5 heads, 5 sets of cabinets. 1 DI/pre.

Nothing else really interests me, as I have settled in my mind that the minimal changes won’t be worth the cost.

If I have GAS I don't appear to be doing it right!!

I had a brief spell of madness about 3 years ago. I bought 4 basses in as many months. I kept the best and sold the rest.

The 4 sting P bass that I bought in 1969 is in the house somewhere. I've owned my Lull PJ5 since 2011 and my Sadowsky RV5 since 2016. If I find a better bass I'll replace one of these, but that's not GAS it's upgrading. In reality I've stopped looking.
