Softest Feeling Rounds

Pure blues come in several gauges. I just loaded a set of 100-40's with a 30 c string. I'm really pleased with the results.

DR Hellborgs are super smooth, with a single nickel outer wrap. Only in E-G sets also 100-40.

Infeld superalloys are really nice too.

Gonna chime in with...
LaBella tapewounds!!
Seriously, roundwounds with nylon over top, great tone and my fingers have never thanked me more. Somewhat expensive but I get compliments on my tone and they'll probably last forever, haha. Get them from Jason at BSO!

The softest I've played are the Black Beauties.

Hmmm...to me they have the most abrasive feeling of any string I have tried so far (and I have only tried maybe ten different flavors of strings so there is that). It's not a bad thing I just seem to prefer something smoother.

Having said that I have a set I'm going to try on a new to me pbass in a few minutes! :roflmao:

Wait...by softer do you mean the easiest to fret?

I haven't played many rounds...maybe like 3 different brands, ha ha.

I thought the Elixirs that came on my Ibanez SR655 were very slick and soft-feeling. I'm a Flatwound Mang but I'm actually thinking of putting those Elixirs back on the Ibanez. They have D'Addario Chromes on them right now.

Edit: Removed a quoted post from another thread.

Best feeling and sounding strings I've come across are the Labella Go,d White or Copper tapewounds. I have spent a small fortune this year exploring rounds, flats, and others and have finally found my string. Best part is they seem to last forever. They are smooth as glass and sound fantastic. Had several compliments on my tone since switching,

So much for that idea. I already took the Black Beauties off and put on some Chromes..........

I'm looking at two sets for my 5. Kalium Hybrids in a balanced set, .035, .049, 067, .090, .118
or R Cocco .040, .060, .080, .100, .120. Question is are the Cocco's (balanced) nickel plated or 100% nickel. I understand the Kaliums are nickel/steel alloy.
I ask because I find steel strings beat the Jesus out of my frets and I want something way softer in a round wound:cool:

The softest feeling rounds I've played at all were the TI jazz rounds, and TI Acousticores but the last ones only fit piezo pickups as ther aren't magnetic. Both are extraordinary expressive strings, and a very loose tension and feel compared to most rounds.
Some of the Kaliums I played when I mainly used their strings were pretty soft too but not all of them, it was strange. When I say pretty soft I mean softer than for example DR Sunbeams, which I think is a generally soft string.
What sound are you looking for, or do you use strings mainly because of how they feel?
