It really depends on what sound YOU like.

I have two Jazz fretless basses. Both with Bart passive pickups. One has the Labellas and one has the TIs. I like them both because I get two very Jazz sounds. The Labellas sound more old school/Motown/bluesy/soul while the TIs sound more tight and modern.

Personally, I like both sounds. But I use each in certain contexts.

I must say, I’m playing the TIs more because it sounds better in my current jazz situations and online. Live, though, the Labellas just kick butt especially in the rock and blues jams, IME.

Both are recorded with my Musicman Caprice with the neck pickup only and the tone on full. In both cases, the strings are only a few days old. I'm trying to decide if I like the TI's or if I want to go back to the Labellas. Honestly it's a tough choice.
