Squier affinity pj bass tuners

I'm looking to replace the tuners on my squier affinity pj bass that I just picked up. I put an allparts omega bridge on it and now want to upgrade the tuners. I did some searching but didn't find what I was looking for on the forums so I thought I would ask. Are there any drop in black tuners for the squier affinity pj bass that I could get? I see hipshot recommended a lot but wasn't sure if they were drop in or if I'd need to do some work. Thanks

Edit to add: Bass is a brand new affinity pj bass, made in Indonesia

No. There is no drop in.

Those are Asian made tuners and no one makes drop in replacements. Work will have to be done.

I would personally go for Hipshot LICENSED Ultralights. They have thread in bushings and a single screw on back.

Take yours off, and measure the bored hole. Check that the hipshots fit the bore.

You’ll only need to drill one hole on the back. If it was me I’d then fill the empty screw holes with the old tuner screws. Shiny chrome screw heads look better than any plug or leaving them empty. IMO.

Hipshot LICENSED. As long as your bores are 16mm at least, good to go. If your bores are bigger, you can wrap tape around the bushings to fit. The bushing hex top will cover any gaps. Hipshot Ultralite LIC Tuner HB6C 1/2 Chrome - Single Bass tuner| SportHiTech

Thanks! That is likely what I will do then. I appreciate the feedback!

I put some Guyker tuners on my Squier. They are the ones that have large 70s plates on the back. They would probably completely cover the Affinity holes. This was a new neck so I don’t know for sure, but it looks like they would. They were about 30 or 40 bucks on Amazon. They come in black.

Here's a pic of an install on an affinity. Please do not do such a bad job! Use a straight edge to align them! The installer said he had to wrap the bushings... his bores are 18mm. So there you go!

Picture those screw holes filled with the old screw instead of open wounds in the pic!

Post a pic. What color is that baby?
Lake placid blue. I replaced the bridge with an allparts omega (badass style) bridge and just replaced the smooth saddles with grooved saddles because I don't trust myself enough to file in the string guide haha

A final tip. PLEASE, when you drill for the screws, use a bit that is only slighlty smaller than the threads so you don't split the headstock, or break the screw off.... maple is VERY HARD!!! The screw only needs to be JUST SNUG in the hole, since it only prevents the tuner from rotating; the bushing does all the work keeping the tuner from falling off. WHEW!

The Leo Quan OGT tuners come in black and look to be a direct replacement for the Squier tuners.

Grover 142s are another option but they are not available in black.

HB7's could be a drop in replacement. One reviewer said they were drop in replacement for their Squier J. They come in black too.

Cracks me up when people online are so confidently incorrect.
Childish when people feel the need to point out another’s mistake and insult.

I have been through searching for replacements for my own squier with the exact same tuners and it was fruitless. I went through every dimension drawing I could find. I asked on the Squier Perfect Fit thread here on TB. Information changes over time.

Glad you are more up to speed on developments. No need to add a snide remark and insult. That's not how we act on TB, like grade three. Go to X to be snide.
