Tuners have come a long way at the cheaper end in the past 15 years. Use this for awhile before automatically assuming that they are garbage.

Honestly, it's not so much that they are garbage as much as I want black ones. Haha

Cracks me up when people online are so confidently incorrect.

Turns out that what is correct or incorrect isn't as clear as you might think. You can't assume that parts are going to be consistent across Squier basses of the same model (or, to be charitable, at least across model years or production runs). They often will use whatever is most readily or cheaply available. I've had HB-7's drop right into a Squier jazz (just barely -- slightly too large but I made it work) and also had them not work at all. I spoke with someone at Hipshot who said that in general they won't claim compatibility with Squiers for this reason. So the bottom line is that no one should feel confident (correct or otherwise) about Squier parts.
