SQUIER JAZZ BASS® '77 + Fender Jazz Bass Original Pickups

I have a 77 VM and I like the way it plays, and it does have the Duncan Design pickups. I agree that you should give the stock pickups a try, though I am about to replace mine.
I also have a sixties VM jazz with the Fender designed pickups, and for whatever reason, those pickups sound great. Either way, these basses are a great buy, and a wonderful platform for mods.

First off noiseless pickups are most likely going to be humbuckers and tone most associated with the Fender J is single coil.
That siad I've got a set of humbuckers in an MIM Jazz and it's my favorite bass.

Hi!
IMO the best mod is setting up properly. If you don't have enough skills to do it yourself, then a luthier will do it for you. Honestly, that's the best improvement.
A good bass must satisfy this conditions:
-Having a clean sound(not fret buzz, no pickup noise)
-Proper string height(comfortable to play, easy to play fast)
-Balance(no neck diving)
-Durable material
-Never going out of tune
-Ease to get all the notes when playing standing up.
The sound will be provided by the preamp or the amp. Depending on the design it will sound differently(e.g. p or j), but any bass will sound well.
So, a jazz bass is really nice sounding bass, if it meets this requierements, then give it a go.
You may want to try also a Sire V7, I own one and I am very pleased with it.
Cheers!

Hello guys!

I got no money for a fender jazz bass, so i was thinking about buying a SQUIER JAZZ BASS® '77, wich already have a nice tone, and buy Fender Jazz Bass Noiseless Original Pickups to put on that bass. What you guys think? It would give a quality boost on the bass tone? It could sound more like a fender jazz bass ?
First try the bass as is (buy the one with the white blocks, it’s much classier) .. if you really want to change pickups look for a set of Fender PV ‘64 ... super jazz bass pickups albeit out of production ... can’t find’em? Get a set of Fender PV ‘74 ... good tone for the money

Hello, guys

I finnaly bought that bass('70 not '77) and here is it:
