Does anyone have a guitar stand solution for 35" scale 5-string bass that will not intefere with the EQ knobs on you bass and hold the bass securely? I have one Hercules tripod-style stand, but it is too short even with tube extended beyond the max setting.

Today I was using a folding Hurcules stand (pictured) and part of the stand caused my bass EQ knob to move (causing a bass cut).

I used to have the same problem with my PentaBuzz with similar A-frame stands at one of the churches I used to play at. Set it down and volume goes off. Everything is perfect at rehearsal/warmup and then

Nothing

Happened twice. One time missed the entire first song because the was not a good spot to jump in at.
Then I brought a regular guitar stand and problem solved. Works for any bass I have, including my 35" scale Turner RB-5F.

Do you have a picture of the Hercules at the max extended length while holding your bass? I am assuming it is one of these, correct?

I am curious how that one fails to work, and a picture might firm things up in my mind.

Yeah--a stand that holds the bass at the headstock won't bump the knobs.

I've used that Herc stand with 35 and 34 inch scale basses; the upright part is plenty long.

Out of curiosity, what is that bass?

That looks like the right type. I know that I had an issue with the body of one bass extending past the padding on the legs if I put the bass into the stand too quckly and would come into contact with the metal screw/bolt that holds the legs together.

That said, I just tried the bass in the picture on the stand and did not have that issue. I must not have had the legs fully folded out the last time I ran into the issue or maybe the two basses are that different.

Problem solved for this bass. I will pull that stand back into the rotation. Thanks!

I use an Hercules stand for my 35 Lakland without any problem. I am curious, why do you care about the stand turning the bass knob, you were not playing it. When you grab the bass you can adjust it again, it is part of my routine before start playing: make sure that bass is in tune and knobs are in the right place.
Sometimes there is very little time to get on stage, strap on the bass, plug the IEMs into the Aviom and get ready to play before the band leader starts a song, so I would rather not have one more thing to worry about. Granted, if I kept the EQ knobs to the center detents, the, it would only take a second to double check, but if I set it to something else at sound check, I would like it to still be there for the song.
