Starting a bass related website

Nobody is missing from Talkbass.

Here's something you could do that would add tremendous value. Take a look at this page
Nikon F2 - Wikipedia
make wiki-style timelines for bass heads & cabs offered from several manufacturers over the years, detailing the differences (blue line to black line, the power tube changes, etc) especially for brands that Fender now owns. You could do one for how the J bass has changed over the years, the P, the evolution of MM models since introduction, etc. A lot of useful information can be presented in this way that nobody has really taken the time to do. Catalog scans are better than nothing, but at some point all the people that remember the pre Fender Sunns are going to be senile and then it's going to be necessary when retro-sludge becomes the primary musical genre in 2040. You could be a legend.

As someone that writes for a few magazines, I can tell you that it is a lot of work... Editing articles and spellchecking (repeat ad infinitum) is a job. You are biting off a lot more than you think. I won't even mention interviews that don't always go to plan (my interview with Steve Gadd comes to mind..).
Working a day gig, networking, writing/creating content (Live reviews, interviews, etc.) are endeavors that will eat away at your time. Not to mention doing it alone...
It has advantages, but be careful that you don't get sidelined into something that you aren't passionate about...
Playing is hard enough... Practicing is time consuming... Do you really want to add coding, writing and countless revisions to that?

I'm just saying....

Oh, and I won't mention the people that contact you to review their CD's and you realize it's not to your liking. They then harass you as if giving you a CD is a guaranteed review. I think it's better to say nothing than to give them a bad review. IMO...

Real stories of cheap to expensive gear being genitally used or abuse.

So erotic stories involving bass gear.
You may come as a surprise to you but I think that might have a very limited audience.
On the other hand it's definitely a niche I have not seen covered before, so might still become a success.
