Storing your guitars.. stands or cases?

I don't like the racks where they are exposed to people kicking and leaning and killing them.

But I love the guitar boat!

I have others on stands for quick access and ones I'm not using go back in cases or bags for storage. I play several different basses each day and decide which 1 or 2 to take with me that night, often a last minute decision.
I love how you designed the whole house around your guitar racks :D

My basses and guitars are in hard cases unless I am playing them. I have too much money invested to run the risk of having them fall off of a stand or be exposed to dust from sitting in the open.

I usually leave one guitar and one bass out, on a stand, for times when there is a moment of spontaneous inspiration.

Or if working on a project, I’ll leave the instruments that are being used on stands or hangers for weeks at a time.

Otherwise, I keep other instruments in cases. I love displaying them like art, but its not worth it imo/ime. They pick up funk and cheese (no offense Dr.!), dry out, get dusty, risk damage and all sorts of other fun stuff.

I have a 7- guitar rack like that. A couple others stay in cases because I don’t play them often. Also several single stands. I like to have them out cuz I find I play them more if they are accessible.

Used to prefer stands back when we had the space to have a dedicated 12x18 room for our “studio.” Now that we’ve got ourselves a smaller and easier to maintain house we no longer have that luxury. So these days everything is kept in its case except for her current favorite guitar and my main bass, plus whatever bass I have in rotation for this week. Those sit on stands next to our amps.

No toddlers and no pets in the house, so I use a rack for my three basses, as well as single stands when I need to. I don’t worry about dust, as going over my basses with a Swiffer duster is pretty quick work.

I have a case or heavy-duty gig bag for each of my three Basses. I had 2 single stands but when I got *last week) my new Jazz Bass, I wanted to get a stand that would hold all three. Something that is easier than getting the guitars out of the cases each time. The cases are (for me) just for travel.
I ordered a three-guitar stand from Amazon for $21 bucks. The gooded and sent me a 7 guitar stand, I looked it up and saved $5 on their goof.

Anyway. The stand took some time to put together because there were no instructions and about 50 parts and screws.

The thing works but it is on the cheaper side of quality.

So my question is ... How do you store your playthings ???????

At home my Dingwall and Fender Jazz Are stored in cases. My fender acoustic I leave out so I can easily grab it and jam whenever I feel like it. For gigs our lead guitarist brings his big fender stand and the entire band shares it.

Cases and gig bags for me with two exceptions.

The ones I play regularly are leaning against the wall in my practice room, the less played ones are in a closet. I do keep one of my DB's on a stand because getting a DB out of a bag for practicing is too much work :roflmao:

My man cave where I have my recording setup is in a different room and I keep a 3-way stand there to hold instruments while recording, but then it's back upstairs and into the case or bag.
