Suhr Basses Are Coming Back To Rocket!

Awww, yeah! The first Suhr Classic P has landed here at Rocket!

I haven't had a chance to plug it in yet, but my plan is to spend some quality time with it this weekend. If all goes according to plan, it will show up in a video for something new and exciting coming from @Jeff Genzler. Stay tuned next week for news on that new Genzler product.

In the meantime, feel free to drool over the photos of this bass that I've been dreaming about for something like 10 years. I'm glad they made the pickguard notch for truss rod access a standard feature rather than something you had to request. If his J pickups are any indication, his P pickup should be AMAZING. And it's a Suhr, so I know it will play great.

Oh, snap! Now the black Classic P is on the way from Suhr. Yipee!!

The neck profile on these Classic P's is for big boys. The nut width is just shy of 1 3/4", and the radius is 7.5". Wide and on the thick side. I'm such a baby after playing my Lull P4 and its slender neck all these years. The Suhr feels like a bit of a handful to me, but I'm sure I could get used to it. The pickup and overall tone, however, are SUBLIME. Yeah, I still want one, and I'm pretty sure it would become my #1 once I adjust to the meatier neck.

I'm committed to producing video evidence of this tone. LOL Just don't hold your breath, what I'm doing is turning out to be slow going. The playing is done, but now I'm re-amping my DI tracks through the new Genzler KINETIX 800 trying to get a really nice mix using no EQ in the mix process (Al Schmitt, you were the man!!). So all the EQ is being done with the head as I'm re-amping multiple tracks. I'm not a good enough recording engineer to make that happen on the first pass. But I'm getting there, it's just iterative. And, man I'm learning a lot!

Anyway, stay tuned for this black Classic P to show up next week.

Here's the black Suhr Classic P that just arrived. It's another winner, they're 2 for 2 with these.

I've got a guy coming to visit this afternoon, and I think one of these Classic P's might leave with him. He fell in love with the neck finish last week when he was here. The neck finish is satin, but even by satin standards it is super smooth and your hand just glides over it.

The black Suhr Classic P has also left the building! I now have a white one in stock, and I'll get that listed on my website today or tomorrow.

One bummer bit of news. Suhr just announced that they are going to be carried by Sweetwater now. Sigh. It's not the kiss of death, but it does usually mean that the lion's share of future sales will be happening in Indiana rather than Blacksburg, VA. LOL They'll make Suhr come out with an economy model, and then they'll stack 'em 40-50 deep. I wish I had those kind of pockets...
