I did some trading today with @DaveDeVille ...he’s fantastic to do a trade with, exactly as you’d hope a regular Talkbass member would be.

Anyway, I came home with a 1982 G&L L-1000 ....this is such a great bass ! It has a great neck...kind of a wide, flat C...very different from my normal Jazzes , but not too far off of my 64 Precision, so it’s nice and comfortable. Digging the tone too...super versatile for a single pickup bass. I’ve owned hundreds of basses, but this is actually the first vintage G&L I’ve owned. I’ve had newer ones and sold vintage ones, but never owned one as a keeper...I think it’s gonna sound great live. Plus it seems reasonably light ...I haven’t weighed it, but seems close to my Jazzes in weight. I know some of these old GandL basses can be tanks.

Anyway, enough talk ....I know you really only want to see pics...

Pfft, an obvious knockoff. I mean, they didn't even try to make the headstock in the right shape. You can send it to me for proper disposal:D

Seriously, though, that bass is beautiful, congrats! I wish that G&L would do an L1000 reissue that had the control plate on it. It gives it (and other vintage G&L's) such a great utilitarian look, along with tying Leo Fender's prior brands together.

Man....That’s a beauty !

Thanks, yours is too - mine was pretty beat up when I got it, but is cleaning up nicely... The nice thing about those years is the nitro finish - easy to touch up if you want, but also "road wear" nicely, too - and the krinkle black hardware is the bomb, IMO...

Mine isn't a lightweight, but is lighter than the ASAT I had before - at 9 and 1/4lbs

Nice, looks a lot like my 83' L2k, same lawsuit headstock, three bolt neck with tilt adjuster, and crinkle black hardware. These basses are built like tanks, mine is still in excellent working order with original frets after all these years. Always undervalued and under rated, I think they blow away any Fender of similar vintage, Leo's finest. Play it hard.
