The band leader & lead singer were in a serious relationship. They broke up and so did the band!

Of those songs posted I enjoyed "Everlong" the most. Is the guy who sang that the guy who was in a relationship with the female singer and broke up the band and owns the PA? He's good.

Sidebar: I have to ask this because one of the guys in the band I'm in does the same thing...why do you stand sideways on stage?
Yes, the guy who sang Everlong was the guy who was in the relationship with the singer.

As far as me standing sideways fairly often, it's a bad habit. I try not to do it and the next thing I know - I'm doing it! I guess I just like facing my bandmates and jamming with them?? I honestly wish I knew for sure. It's a tick maybe? In my old band we used to play in a small town not far from where I live and there was this older lady who just loved my bass playing and liked watching me play bass. Well, of course I was playing sideways, and she would come up to me and grab my shoulders and turn me forward. You'd think that would have gotten the point across to me, but it's just a bad habit of mine...

@Pedulla-Player Would it work well for you to work again with the lead singer? We don’t really have a sense of her other than she’s really bruised right now.

+1 on your chops in all the vids, bro, as someone said, really solid

Thanks so much! I really appreciate it! I definitely put a lot of time into those songs and I'm glad that it was time well spent.

I'm conversing with her yesterday she said that she needs a long break and she's just not sure what the future holds at this time. I just told her to do what's best for her and that if she ever got something going down the road and I'm available I'd be honored to be in a band with her again.

Awesome!

Well, on that “long break,” I suggest giving her 30 days (or less, whenever is the right time) and calling her.. tell her 30 days Is a “long time” especially this time of year :), and you’re getting together Lance, the drummer, you know a good bassist, for a jam for fun, and to keep your chops up. You might tell her you feel burned and disappointed that the band ended, but you don’t hold it against her (or not say that)… and you’re going to work up “Treat Me Right” P. Benatar, and could she come over and sing it? You think she (and you) would do really well on it now!

It’s partly humor but for real that you really would have that jam. And it could help her get through the mess. And to not throw out the baby with the bath water.

You have a Really Good Band with that foursome..

Man, that would be great if that could happen, because I agree that we had a good thing happening. Unfortunately, this just doesn't seem like a possibly with everything that has transpired and that I've been hearing. Thanks again for the positive comments!

I usually end up standing side on to the audience because I like to keep an eye on the drummer. I find visual cues can be helpful sometimes with locking in together. Also means I can pick up any signals he might want to send straight away.

I'm sure that has a lot to do with it for me as well - keeping eye contact and communication with my band members. My problem is that I definitely need to face the crowd more often than I currently do. It's just an unconscious habit for me that when I'm jamming with people to turn and face them.

My best friend said something that cracked me up. The band that broke up was called Slab. He told me to form a new band and call it balS. Lol...That guy! He knew that I was bummed out and he was trying to cheer me up and make me laugh. It worked! I hope no one found this post offensive. Definitely found out that I have to watch what I say. I just found it funny and thought that some of you would get a chuckle out of it as well.

Most songs we do have plenty of 'stretch time' parts where watching the drummer isn't a thing. That's when I try to move around if the stage is big enough. On smaller stages, I at least face the audience and try to make eye contact.

I stand stage-right, and it solves a lot of issues...

I also have a damaged right eye, so even more helpful. :)

Lol! Funny joke but not bookable.
I was in a band in the early zeros who's first syllable was BLO. The second syllable was a synonym for "task".
Unbookable. We changed the name.
