Yipe. After kinda sorta fussing around above/below freezing for a while, winter took the gloves off. Which means I'd better put mine on. 30F as recently as Christmas day, now 13F headed for 0F tonight, prediction of -10F in a couple of days for a low, highs in the single digits. It's here.

Does get colder (usually late Jan/Feb) some years. Still, a bit brisk, and all of a sudden-like.

Yeah, we have had it easy early winter for the last few years up here. I've actually grown to love the cold and am excited for the low temps...I'm definitely in the minority, though.

Not pining for Florida (heck, I can drive to the town in 15 minutes, but it's just as cold as here - and there's a big hole under it for trains :D)

I visit the state occasionally, but I can't stand it for any length of time. I'll take the cold over the bugs and beastly heat and terrible drivers.

Mostly I'm irritated that I didn't get the water drained quite in time from an unheated building.

You're getting what we just got (and still will have for awhile). Glad I finally used up the Kirtland pellets yesterday and got into the Pro pellets because they burn hotter. 2 feet of snow over the last 2 days, bitter winds, whiteouts. But this is normal for us, it was coming sooner or later. Some years I've seen -35F and 5 feet in 3 days.

And for those of us on the eastern side of a Great Lake, let's not forget lake effect snow...several feet of it...:spit:
That's for sure. Up to 200 inches in lower Michigan and 400 inches in upper Michigan.

I don't mind when it's winter and it means it. What irritates me is when new snowfall and winter temps drag off and on till the 2nd week of May. Last summer it didn't even get warm enough to take the jet skis out until September then it was time to put them away for the October snow.

Just got back to Chicago very late last night after five days in Ft. Lauderdale, where it hit or came close to 80 every day. It was 40-ish here when we left, it’s 5 right now with a -9 wind chill. Do not like.

I don't think its been above zero since sometime last week, they say it could go all the way up to 15 F tomorrow. Calling for -15 on NYE, glad I have no gig that night, I really don't miss those, haven't done one in years.

Tell me about it - it got down into the 40s for a couple nights last week.

It's currently 15F here with a wind chill of 3F.

Considering I was outside last week in just a t-shirt, it got cold pretty darn quick.

Letting the dog out just now was not fun.
