Now, where's my number?!
That is one bad ass looking bass! I was just looking at the Schecter catalog and was checking out the Avenger guitars thinking how great of a bass it would make and here it is. Although I am interested in a 4 string. When and where did you get that?

Thanks! I got it from a friend of mine here in northern MN. Last I checked though, the used section on guitar center's website had a 5 string one like mine going for $350

I got mine for a cool $200. What a steal!

And they did make a 4 string version that predates mine even. I believe it's the AB-1

here's the link for the used one on guitar centers website

Thanks!!! Now I have another bass to keep an eye out for. They don't seem to be that common, I've only found one 4-string listed but it's in a blue/gray color that I'm just not into. Thanks again.

I picked this up sometime around 1983-5. Koa body, black walnut neck w/o fingerboard. This was my only ax for 20 years, then I needed a 5er for a project and she sat lonely and unplayed for 2 years. She is getting a new PJ setup from stan at HAS sound and will soon be back in my hands making music. I can't wait.

I really love those 80's Schecters, I haven't seen one I don't like.:bassist:

*I used to own this bass's twin. I found some old snapshots I had of it but I don't have a scanner and haven't been able to upload them. It had a different body would that I think was some sort of burl and a brass pickguard, but it had the same headstock, logo and pickup setup.

simon, thanks for the post. Thats the first time I've ever seen a bass similar to mine. Somewhere around the house I'm sure I have an old brochure. I think these were called "Jupiter" basses or something like that. I might even have a wiring diagram. The P pickup was tapped and there was a pull switch on the volume knob. My J self destructed a long time ago. But I still have the P and the wiring harness. I wonder if there is an online resource for serials and whatnot. I contacted Schecter a few times and never received a reply. It would be nice to know a little history on these basses. Thanks again for sharing the pics.

Bought this baby new in 1980. Paid $1000. Certainly the best bass I've ever owned. The action on this thing is unequalled and the flat wound strings create death tones.
Got out of the music business in 1984 and went straight...but not before playing with Stewart Copeland in the U.K. band, "Curved Air."
See www.curvedair.com and then clink on link and my name (Phil Kohn). That afro weighed a ton and old ladies throughout the streets of England used my head as target practice for their umbrellas.
I now live in Milwaukee.
