The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

May I please be a member?

When I started bass 40 years ago my first bass was a Les Paul Triumph. I've been short scale ever since.
Hofner, Jerry Jones Longhorn, Hagstrom, Starfire are some of my short scale beauties :)

Me too... 'cept mine was an Epiphone Beatlebass copy (only 7 years ago or so...). I am a huge guy, but play all shorties. Welcome!;)

I'm curious, I never knew Mustangs were finished in anything other than solid colors (with or without racing stripes) and sunburst. Did I miss something? :help:
I bought a new Sunburst & rosewood Mustang with the silver hard case in '71. IIRC cost around $150 including my less than impressive trade in Kent. I paid my way through college playing that bass in bar bands. What a great bass, especially on long gigs. I really miss it!:bawl:

So what is the size difference between the SX URSA 3 JR and a regular size URSA? Is it a big difference?

I looked at an Ibanez micro and the body was tiny. Is the body of the URSA 3 JR SS obviously smaller?

This is probably better asked in Essex Bass Club - Part 14 thread. You'll find a lot more owners and detailed information. Or contact Kurt at Rondo:help:

It is obviously smaller as you can see in this photo.

This is a photo of me SX short scale ursa comparing to my Fender P bass. The body of ss ursa is pretty much the same size as a Stratocaster.

Since there's no photos in the new thread yet, I think I should post some pics of my latest SS acquisition.

It's a RockBass by Warwick Corvette Basic Short Scale.

I don't know why but lately I've been GASing for SS bass. When I saw this one I had to give it a try. And it's a great bass. Very comfortable to play. The body is the same size as normal corvette. So, it doesn't feel weird at all.

What I love the most for this bass is the sound. With MEC pups + 2 band EQ, it's probably the biggest sounding sounding SS bass I've ever played. It's a SS with modern sound. For under 500$ new, I couldn't be more happier.

Here's a pic of it with my SX ss P bass.

Here's a quick picture from the day I brought it home:

Very nice looking bass. It is the first natural finish Mustang I've ever seen.

Thanks. The pictures don't really do it justice. It's a dream to play, too.

I've seen a few of the natural/maple Mustangs, but this is the only one I've seen with a white (WBW) pickguard. I actually think that black looks better with this combo and bought a BWB one, but haven't gotten around to replacing it. I kinda hate to break up the (what appears to be) original set.
