My beloved fretless vette 4:

and my beloved vette 5.

The vette 5 has a swamp ash body, weighs like 1/3 of the fretless. I would have liked another bubinga body, but I just love the sound of this one (and I've not got the time (and the money) to pay for a custom).

I've had some serious desire to play a streamer stage II. I went out on a limb and owned a thumb BO 5 for a while, but it just didn't "do it" for me. So it got replaced with the vette 5.

Then I picked up a yamaha trb1005. It was quite beautiful, played nicely, but just didn't feel as good as my vette 5. So it went back to the store. I'm an official warwick-head.

btw, they have a forum up on warwick's site: www.warwick.de

How does "Tina" sound.....I'm guessing nothing short of amazing.

Your guess is correct. A simple twist in either direction of the pan, and you can go from Jazz to Rock in a heartbeat. They really did a good job with the electronics in this one, it's got a HUGE range of tonal capabilities. Not to mention, the pics don't do the Birdseye Poplar justice one bit, it's a stunner in person. It's also very light, which is an advantage to my other Wicks. I'm very happy with it, it's just became my main bass.

I'd like to join!!

I don't think I have a pic on my computer right now...hopefully soon.

But anyways, I have a 1998 Streamer Stage 2 5string I bought used about a month, almost 2 ago. It has a Wenge neck, MEC's, and the graphite nut. She is absolutely mint! I don't think the previous guy played it that much, or at least he babied it a lot!

SIDE NOTE: Hurlatron, I'm REALLY considering putting in the Basslines AJB5 and STC preamp, except I don't know which preamp to go for: the 3M4 or the 3A. Dirk uses the former and Pnut the latter. Do you have any idea about the tone differences? Or how would these compare to any other preamp out there? People don't talk too much about these preamps. Thanks!

I've got the 3a. Its very scooped sounding set flat. But can be adjusted to add mids. the bass eq is very usuable and the mids as well. The trebble is a little touchy. the first 2/3 is not too noticable the the rest is WHAMMO! theres the highs!. The highs are a little "brittle" but that just adds to the snap of the the "hi-fi" slap sound.

Hope this helps.
