Thoughts on the Blackstar Fly Bass 3 (Stereo Pack)?

I have one and bought the parts separately, which wound up costing me much more than the 3 pack is currently going for :/. And my extension speaker is black, not silver because they don't sell the silver one on it's own (same speaker though).

I've only used it a couple of times, and while I like what it can do - IMO - all the knobs are BS. I can get one decent tone out of it. Everything else sounds pretty ridiculous. Lots of bells and whistles that are useless, to me anyhow, though I'll admit I haven't spent a whole lot of time with it.

I did get blown away though when I plugged my iPhone into it one day. Sounds pretty awesome as a speaker system.

My impression is that’s it’s worlds worse than a zoom b1on wired to an Oontz Angle 3 which is a very cheap speaker and that’s worth about the same in total. I’m going to try with a better speaker and see how much better that gets
I’d like to see what you do with it. My Fly Bass came with a dry solder joint on two of the gain pots, so they crackle and it’s audible while playing through the speaker. Needless to say, I don’t use them.

It’s funny because I bought it based on Bass Player, Music Radar and The Guitar Magazines’ reviews of it, which were massive praise. Massively dissapointed.

I think if someone is looking for something super small to enable them to hear their bass and nothing more, this is fine. That's what I bought mine for, and why I didn't originally get it with the extension. To me, it's like a bass version of one of these:

If it's bought for any other reason than to hear oneself though at low volumes, and with any expectations of jamming with others, sounding great, or being versatile at all - you will be disappointed. I'm not unhappy with my purchase (aside from the fact that I paid a lot more than it's available for now), but I also had no great expectations. Just wanted to outdo the Honeytone, and it definitely accomplished that.

I am thinking about picking up a stereo pack for travel myself. There is not a lot of information online regarding these, but I did find a post on the Blackstar forum (see below).

Fly 3 extension - bass and guitar same? - Official Blackstar Forum

According to this the speaker in the Fly 3 Bass and the Fly 103 are the same. I am not certain if that means the speaker is the same as in the Fly 3 (guitar version), but it is more information.

If I end up buying one I may crack it open just to see what is inside.

Replaced oontz with a bose bluetooth speaker (wired) and the same b1on, and it's a clear wonderful sound that has nothing in common with the soft crackly fluttering sound from the fly pair. I couldn't unrecommend the blackstar things hard enough.
