which gauge do you like?Yes Jargars, they always felt good on my basses.
they appear to be the apex of steel thud ...Agree with Jargars.
wonder what dolces are like ... anyone have any experience with those? dolce vs regsAlways liked the mediums. Mainly used for arco, but when amplified they were old school for pizz and had still had good note definition. Though never crazy for the E. Used spiro for E.
that counts tooDo you mean all steel strings? Or does synthetic wrapped in steel count?
definitely. i heard the fortes are insanely stiff.I prefer the Dolces, they fell more supple than mediums.
These strings are loaded with damping material, so they may feel somewhat stiff.
Well, depends on your bass, but raising the action will help.definitely. i heard the fortes are insanely stiff.
are the dolce's wimpier in volume output? or vol. difference not noticeable vs. the regs? ...
thats the thing ... the jargar price point is so nice ....I've got the Dolces on a 7/8 plywood bass. They're soft under the hand and wimpy with lower action. I keep raising the action and like them pretty well. Very thumpy for sure, E and A are not spiros but they are nice for arco practice. I consider moving on to guts but they're cheap and stable so I'm going to use them a while longer.
love the orchestras ...could also try helicore orchestras. very damped strings
apparently each kaplan string is covered with a different metal? On my bass, Kaplans were thuddier than Helicores, but not as much as Jargars.
