US: Northeast Upstate New York

Played an outdoor gig last night at the Plantation bar n grill in Ithaca last night. Great to be back in the saddle again!

playing 8/5 at the Dryden VFW, 8/8 at Trumansburg Brews n Brats. My entire summer calendar condensed into 8 days! :roflmao:

Rock on and be well, Upstate!

We had some sparks of hope here that were quickly snuffed out by people that wouldn't follow the protocol. Some had the plug pulled after just a few songs as people would get up and walk around without a mask. We have a name for these folk - "mask debaters" Until everyone can toe the line, gigs are going to be slim pickins indeed for quite some time...:banghead: :poop:

@alanloomis1980 I saw the Phish cover band called Nectar at the Boathouse last weekend, first live gig I have seen in ages. The boathouse has a good setup where the band is on the porch and the crowd is on the lawn. not sure how long it will last but at least there are some around. Will keep brews&brats on the 8th in mind

Wife and I were recently in Skinny Atlas;) (Skaneateles)for an overnighter...went on the boat tour of the lake and ate at a dynamite Italian place whose name escapes me. Had fun and only a little over 2 hours away from home. BTW, is the Boathouse in Romulus? I believe I played there many moons ago...

I feel blessed our area is taking it seriously. Even so, gigs are slim pickings here too. Venues either don’t have the budget anymore, don’t want to encourage crowds or don’t have outdoor space. (Not sure what the indoor-gig scene is like, but we’ve decided as a band to do outdoors only.)

Just got home from gig 2 of 3 in my summer calendar. Local VFW, and they were very glad to have us. Great time!

We know some of the bands that play there, but they’re all booked for the year!

Yes on 89 on the west side of Cayuga lake, Romulus

How ya doing upstate??

we played our last gig of the season early afternoon on 10/11/20. Nice outdoor brewery, they had a heated tent for the music. But the weather was so nice that they didn’t even turn on the heaters, and every one was out in the sun. Great crowd and a nice way to close the year.

I had to turn down a private party last week. it seemed responsible enough, but cases are ramping back up again, and this wasn’t even in our county. guitar and drummer wanted to do it, but I had to pass. They seemed supportive and understanding.

I have already started some distance recording projects with some old buddies, and plenty of woodshed checklists to keep my chops up.

Stay safe New York State!

Haven't done a gig since March except for a streaming thing from the guitarists back yard. This past summer was supposed to be my big "swan song" from the band Revolver. A few very nice, well paying gigs then a big final show at the NY State Fair. Needless to say none of that materialized. Currently working with an originals band that's sounding VERY good and a possible reunion with some guys from 30 years ago. No place for either one to play though...:rollno::crying::(

After we did the music is art live stream we were set up to do a pre recorded set in Syracuse next weekend that due to covid outbreaks out that way was just canceled today. At this point I'm looking at a festival booked for next August. Time to write, practice and expand I suppose

Since end of March, have done exactly 6 gigs between 2 bands; Last show for 2020 will be Saturday at Transit Music Lounge. Our singer will be having surgery 2 days later and will be out of commission for at least 8 - 10 weeks. Finger Lakes peeps: Wife and I are visiting from tomorrow thru Friday in Geneva and Aurora. Let me know about any shows happening during the week! We'll stop out!

I don't know of any shows as Boathouse Beer Garden closed down, they were the only consistent shows I knew of. However I live right between Aurora and Geneva so if you need anything give a shout.

I've done one gig since Covid started. We were supposed to open for a regional act in mid March, but that obviously got cancelled.

Finally in August we got to play a barn party with 250+ people there, we were the headliners and made the most of it.

Hope y’all are well in Upstate!

One of my bands is set to be fully vaccinated by end of March, and we plan on rehearsals soon after. We’ve also been booking outdoor gigs for summer, yay! Haven’t yet had “the talk” about when we will accept indoor gigs...

Some sad news in Ithaca today, they finally tore down the Haunt :( Apparently though someone bought the rights to the name and is looking for a new location:
