Big fan of the GK NEO stuff here, but I would be more inclined to go with the Dr Bass since it’s 4ohms and I don’t know how to rewire crap (all of my cabs are 4ohms).

Why would I need to rewire?
Shovel head? Hammer head? Head pipe?

If only my original topic was getting this many hits!

Don’t be swayed by the wattage ratings on the cabs. Watts don’t make noise, cabs do, and past a certain point more drivers at lower wattage is louder than fewer drivers at higher wattage. I say pick up the GK now, and save up for a second one later.

I run a pair of golight 115s and they are spectacular. For rehearsal and small gigs I just take one. Am an extremely happy owner. My experience with 12s (and right now need to say I have not tried the 112 golight) leads me to expect that if you’re playing loud that you’ll need a pair. Given your budget, personally I’d likely go with the GK if you need the ability to do bigger rooms. Otherwise, well, SWR has never let me down.

I am in the minority that does not like the sound of the GK neo cabs. I finally got rid of mine and could not be happier to have it gone. Do you need to only buy one of those three? Is there a time crunch keeping you from auditioning some cabs first?

There's no huge time crunch, just not a lot of options in the area. There's some other used options, a couple of which I may be able to demo. I can go to a local music store and order in a couple different cabs if I give a deposit, but that's 1) inconvenient and 2) better value used.

I own the gk115 iii. At 1 point had a pair of them. They are ok but really sound good paird with the 212. The go 12’s are the way to go in that line. I would look for a neo 212 over the 15. Unless you can try it first.
yeah in the recent GK Neo thread most people favor the 112 or the 212 over everything else. Haven't seen one around as an option but will hunt a bit for them.

I would run away very fast from anything DR Bass. I had two of his cabs supposedly with upgraded speakers. Looked them up they were the cheapest speakers in the Eminence line. They sounded ok but when you put any power to them they distorted like crazy way below what they were rated at power wise. If you do go DR Bass check out what speakers are in them first.

Always check out the drivers in a cabinet. My experience w Dr Bass quality was excellent - built sturdier than most others and sounded great. Mine were loaded w eminence deltas and later replaced w eminence kappalite neos. Both sounded great. Price point was right. As far as the customer experience w the original builder, I must have been the lucky one.

Might have been swamped out by the seller.
