Double Bass Want to only view TB/DB threads and posts??? Here's a possible solution...

It might be worth mentioning, browser settings may make a difference in how these thread lookup functions work. For some of them, the filter settings are saved as cookies.

For example in my case, for security and privacy I delete cookies when I exit my browser, so some, but not all of those filter settings disappear. The newest method that we've talked about, which Chris first discussed a few posts above this one, does not appear to store the filter settings as cookies, so in my case it works between browser sessions. (And why do I delete cookies between browser sessions? Because I hate getting targeted advertisements :D .)

I find I get most of what I want (when I want to browse DB content exclusively) by looking at the Threads tab and then filtering by DB and Unread Content. Not quite as easy as the old format, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it in a week or so.

It's interesting. I'm now using the New Posts / Watched Forums process almost exclusively, and I was just reflecting on how little we really need in a forum tool in order to do what we want.

95%, or maybe really 99%, of my use here is simply reading new posts, and compared to that the remaining 1% to 5% is mostly making new posts. And technology doesn't have to be very sophisticated in order to do those things...

Which leads me to observe what a wonderful learning and sharing place this is. I'm thankful.

So, the option under Threads to "sort by: Last post date" seems to have disappeared. In any case, I think the method Chris laid out for using "New Posts" is the best option for seeing all the latest posts, limiting things to Double Bass (or whatever forums you like). It takes a minute to set up, but works perfectly. I thought "Watched Content" only meant threads you participated in or were following, etc. but it's much more flexible than that. Thanks for the explanation, Chris.

So, here's a question I'm having trouble figuring out...

Using the "followed" Watched Forum selections with the New Posts menu option works great for keeping up with normal forum posts.

Is there a way to do the same thing with Classified group sections? I'd sort of like to be able to also watch them.

Not that it was better, but if I remember correctly the old system seemed to include Classifieds along with other DB (or BG) forums for selection.

Any thoughts?
