Look at those high string heights! Bet it's a cannon!
Hi there Jason,

yes especially considering the fact the bass was strung with Spirocore Stark-strings at the time of the photo^^
I am a no-amp guy and the bass always had a voice above any rowdy bar/club/pub-crowd!

A note: I switched to Spirocore solos after the Starks and I noticed solos in solo-tuning resembles Starks in orchestral-tuning.

:)

More power to you! I endured the great string-height wars of NYC back in the early 2000's. I got pretty comfortable with it but over time I started to turn my head towards bowing, and then bowing in the upper registers. Ever since I've been trying to get the right balance of boom to purr. It became notable to me as I search for info that players like Paul Chambers and certainly Scott Lefaro or Eddie Gomez were getting some rather epic boom for their buck considering their lower strings and started to try to figure out how they did that. Still looking as we speak.

I know it’s an old post, but I was in Nags Head last fall.
Super cool place and the beach was awesome. Hope to get back there. What’s the live music sitch?
There is a ton of live music if your here in the mid spring through fall. Roadside in Duck has bands everyday, arts place still has Jazz night on thursdays and tons of other stuff happening around the beach. Its a good place to be in the summer if you want to gig. I usually do about five nights a week these days from May until October
