What would you do? Guitar Center Tech messed up?

Replace "smell" with "small", spellcheck probably the culprit.
More likely, I think, he was trying to avoid the wrath of the 'auto-substitute' filter by not using the word 'hell' (which is a perfectly good German word for 'light' (as opposed to 'dark').

If it were me, I'd be opening up a conversation with @Gard for a valuation and possible repair/remediation estimate...
But if I were in Atlanta, I'd probably just have taken it to Roscoe directly for mods of this extent...

On the case, I already reached out to the OP in a PM, and will not be commenting here. Hopefully we will resolve this to everyone's satisfaction quickly.

:)

So thanks to everyone's input and advice, as well as Gard gracing my inbox with an immediate willingness to step in, I went to GC, spoke with a manager and told them that they were responsible, and I made them box up and ship the bass directly to Roscoe Guitars.

I'm disappointed because two-and-a-half weeks without being able to play my Roscoe PLUS knowing that it's been injured is quite torturous. BUT, I'm more than elated that it will be back to where it came from and will be in the best hands!

Of course, in all fairness, I believe the real culprit was a faulty personnel scheduling on behalf of GC. The tech was extremely over-loaded and being pulled in a hundred different directions during the last two weeks, as the other tech has been out due to back surgery. I know that's still not an excuse, but I can see how mistakes happen in that sort of work environment where you can't focus on the actual meaningful work.

So I wanted to swap the Bart preamp in my Roscoe bass for an Aguilar and install two 3-way switches for coil-tapping on the pickups. I've done this numerous times but this time I did not feel like doing it. So I decided to take it to GC to have them do it. It's been over two weeks and the install is not finished (I dropped it off on 7/25/17). However, bear in mind that I MYSELF wired the preamp, so that they wouldn't have to do it. Besides, wiring it up is fun for me. Anyways, today I get a call from the tech performing the install that he accidentally drilled a hole too big for one of the switches. Attached are the pictures of the proposed solution. I don't know how I feel about it.

What would you do?

Demand them to have it fixed right or replace it. That is just inexcusable.

That's pretty high praise!

Where is the "love" button? That's awesome news! Roscoe's weren't even on my radar until I played some a few years back. Absolutely the some of nicest basses I've ever had my mitts on. It may take me a few years but I will eventually own one when finances allow. This move just cements my respect for what they do. Cheers!

NO!

A man needs to know his limitations.

Yep, that's too high end a piece to just rig up some lame replacement. If it were mine GC would be buying me a new Roscoe, or at the very least footing the bill to send it back to the maker for repair/replacement.

Here is a novel thought, how about actually reading the thread before making comments that clearly ignore what has already happened...

They need to replace the bass, or give you a check for the value of a new replacement. Yes it can be repaired, and yes Rosco is going to do a very good repair on the bass, but it will still be repaired and will still be in worse condition than when you brought the bass to them. If I damaged one of my customers basses like that I would feel responsible for replacing his instrument. But then again, I wouldn't have drilled a hole that looks like it was chewed through.

Thank you so much for pointing out my mistake. I don't know how i'd manage to get through my day without an ever vigilant monitor not only tirelessly searching for opportunities to correct us slothful pogues, but never failing to throw an insult in the mix to remind us lower forms just what a bunch of lame, nonreading individuals we in fact are. While i would normally throw in a lame attempt at an apology in the form of some lame self denigrating humor, i am far too lame to come up with anything to properly convey my lameness without violating TB TOS, so rather than further demonstrate just how stupid and slothful i've been i'll simply offer again my most humble and profound apologies for forcing you to not only endure my stupidity, but having to also suffer the further inconvience of taking time out of your busy day to insure i was properly chastised for my ignorance. Hopefully in the future i will again have an opportunity to have my flaws pointed out to me by another perfect individual.

Oh and BTW, is this correction complementary or is there a charge for helping me be a better human? I only ask in hopes you may offer a subscription service were for a monthly fee you could follow me around and point out my many flaws and mistakes, all in the interest of grooming me to one day reach perfection.

Or is serving as a bad example my only use in life?

And one more time, thank you from the bottom of my ignorant heart for your tireless efforts to save me from myself. You are truly a giant among men.

:D:D :smug::woot::roflmao::) :D:D Just wanted to make sure you know i'm kidding.

But seriously though, thanks for the heads up. I usually make the effort to read the entire thread before commenting, but this time i got lazy.
