What's coming and going XVIII: (We Don't Need) Rehab

In: Zoom MS-70

Nice delay, reverb, ... models. :)
Only thing I dislike is that you have to use the line selector to bypass multiple effects. But oh well, it's pretty cheap, sounds good and if that's the only downside I can live with it.

I've owned two FEA pedals, sold em both, regret it often.
Even though I don't have a current use for em. heh.

I with I would have had the cash to buy your -CL, but alas, I'm broke...:spit:

In the last 6 months I have owned and sold the optifet and db cl. I'm sure i'll regret it but I am extremely happy with the Cali 76

The analog vs. digital debate from the other thread. Or should I say 100111001001

I did sort of want to jump in on that. I would love to see this tested more thoroughly in a blind way. My guess is that most people are not as good as distinguishing digital vs. analog as they think they are. Rather, there are a lot of preconceptions that influence perception, along with confirmation bias. I think the Phaser shootout that the Orbital won when everyone assumed that the clip was from an analog pedal was a strong (though limited and anecdotal) piece of evidence in favor of what I'm saying.

Going…Mesa M 9
Incoming…Acme 8 ohm B 1
Certain Custom Jazz Bass…very curious about this brand.

Getting rid of the M9? I love my M6... What is it being replaced with, might I ask? It's hard to find something that does "sweet & juicy" and also "punchy and growly" while always remaining clear and never muddy. Curious what you found that you like better.

Hijack alert. Just got an m9 and a PH 810. Wow...I love my tone, just the way U describe it

I had a M6 for years. I found that it was way too bright when matched with brighter basses. It was amazingly articulate and had plenty of low end, but there was no way to tame the brash highs without muffling everything. I find the Walkabout much warmer and controlled.

What cabs were you using Zach? I myself have the Mesa 2x12, and I turn the tweeter down with the dial on the back... Mesa uses a much more mellow tweeter than the typical horn tweeter most bass cabs use. Even then, I roll back the tone knob on my J bass halfway, and I turn down the treble knob. I use the style switch to boost upper mids, cut with the actual mid knob, and boost the bass. It's booty enough for Motown finger style but snaps when I slap it. Sh*t is money ~

I had a Mesa PH2x12 and a Mesa PH4X10. I typically DI'd the head and used my cab as a stage monitor. All of my basses were active until recently. It sounded great with my dual hum bucker Sterling 5, but terrible with my all bubinga custom bass. Nothing against Mesa, as I immediately moved to a Walkabout, but it just wasn't a good match. I will say the M6 was the best amp I ever used for handling effects.
