At Brentwood Academy in the 70's we were doing a production and needed a bass player. I played guitar (not nearly as well as the other guy, Dan Huff).

Our head of music was a guy named Ron Shuff (who has influenced lots of people) placed this weird, long guitar with crappy string spacing and not enough strings into my hands and said, I want you to play this... I learned the parts but hated the bass. I didn't really start playing it until 20 years ago, when I realized we could always find a guitar or keys player but finding bass players and drummers was hard.

Here's a photo I took of Ron when I was in high school... ah Leisure suits, may they never return...

To be honest, yes, seeing the Beatles at 10 1/2 inspired me to want to play music and more specifically guitar.

Despite seriously loving pop music for the next several years, I never figured out exactly what "bass guitar" was until late 1967. I used to read in fan mags that some of the musicians in bands I liked like Steve Boone and Phil Volk played bass guitar but I didn't understand exactly what that meant.

Family had no record player so all I heard was this homogeneous sound of the songs coming out of a tiny radio speaker.

......then I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan.

Paul McCartney wasn’t playing in free air. :)
(I didn’t date girls who would say, “Wings! Oh the Beatles? They were McCartney’s back up group.” :):)

Is he great? Ohhh Yeah!

For some peeps the whole group, the whole band, the entire orchestra is the real inspiration. :)

Not Paul McFartney.... i ate alot worse back then...Wasn't until i heard Steve McHairball from Irun Laiden that i really wanted to be in a band....Chris Squeer from that band "NO", is who got me into wanting to play actual bass:D

Seriously, i love McCartney is a great player, nothing too intricate just tasty lines a lefty and he sings....

Wrong, unless you're a Brit. Even then, why would you care that some dumb royal touched his shoulder with a sword?
Just a joke, dude. The whole poll is Paul McCartney. So the whole poll is a joke. I was joking off of his joke. Jokey McJoker time. Lots of jokes. Take a joke. Learn how to read a joke. Screw 'em if they can't take a joke. :D
