Ooh, I was watching Rick Beato dissect 'Superstition' only the other day; I'd always believed that was a real bass and not a Moog synth bass that was even played by Stevie himself! Just like pretty much the rest of the song, except for the brass bits. Mind = Blown!

I think he gets his recognition (well, as much as people who know who Phish is).
What I mean is, people that know bass players, and know the band, definitely give him his due.
I heard of him long before I ever knew who the band was in fact. (cant say I love the band, but I can appreciate them). I always thought they were like the dead, as people always mention them in the same sentence, I assure you this is NOT the case. These guys are quite technical in their music, where as those dead folks, just kinda randomly ramble..(I also just learned recently that Garcia didn't even write songs..?.. crazy).
I digress..

Oh yea.. Ill say John Taylor From Duran Duran. (yea, they're from 80s pop, but he did (or still does maybe?) have some cool chops, and tone if ya'll listen)

Tina Weymouth. Her bass lines with the Talking Heads were often counterpoints to the guitars and really drove a lot of the songs. Fun to play, too!
