Sounds like the players I've found here. Last group were all seasoned players. Doing covers of Journey, REO, Fleetwood Mac and others. Gave me a list of all the songs they want to do. Told to learn the first 10. Get to practice and the singer wants to do other songs on the list, not the 10 I was told to learn. Faked my way through and they sounded respectable. We only make 1 run through of each song, rather than doing them until we get it right. All members are in their 50s and 60s. I'm 66 with a bad back, so I play sitting down. Band leader calls me a few days later and tells me it isn't working out since I sit down and didn't learn the songs that I wasn't told to learn. All I can say is that no matter their age, musicians can really suck.

Is this the only gigging opportunity you have? If not, I can see no reason for you (or anyone) to continue putting up with it. If it is the only opportunity, I'd still take a hard pass on it, personally.
Wasn't sure why I stuck after the first practice. Mostly just forcing myself to learn some new songs and expanding the musiciains I know. After being in a couple bands for over 10 years and taking a year break I thought I'd give these guys a fair shot. Admittedly... the drive enabled me to get some good junk food in my veins... not that I'd tell my wife that.

If someone's bored on a one chord song, IMHO they're not really doing it right.
Maybe take it up as a challenge to make the tune exciting. Focus on grooving the heck out of it, delivering 100% of the attitude which songs like that are all about. (That can be easier said than done when the rest of the band isn't happening...)
Alternately you could get into playing jazz. (If I ever get bored trying to play Giant Steps, I'll let you know.)
Been there, done it... got the T-shirt.

With this song... well some say you can't polish a (insert synonym for human waste)

1 THE HANG. I like them. but made it clear due to playing with past members with Drug and alchohol problems ,(to include one drummer dying from an overdose) I'm not even 420 friendly. I'll drink a beer or 2 during a gig. They asked if I wanted to partake after practice.

IF I had known this, I'd have NEVER gone to rehearse with them in the first place. To hell with all that.

What if you love both Pink Floyd and HxCx?

Mostly kidding, honestly though I'm all about the rule of three, I've got to like something about the band if I want to join
Yea, I like some of that 60's stuff too---Ten Years After (Leo Lyons) cooks on fast, walking bass lines, fwiw.

The Quicksilver version is the best version imo. There is s few 60's 70's bands, that I can get behind---Its all about the fastness & the energy, minus inflated egos/corporate mentality.

2. The Money. Not expecting many bookings... if we do we'd be at minimum due to the KISS mentality.
3. The Music... again the KISS method and people not learning the tunes destroys the orignals.

In the end, I may have to consider therapy... the practice space is an hour away, and I'm actually considering going back. Is anyone aware of any online Psychotherapists?
Doesn’t sound like there’s enough there, really. My rehearsal space is almost an hour away too, but we gig almost every weekend (sometimes twice) so there’s hardly any rehearsals unless we are song new stuff. Sometimes we don’t even practice for that.

I do love lonesome George, though.
