Wife got me a new Fender Jazz, is it authentic?

I know there's a lot of knowledgeable folks here on Fender. It's definitely not a player and the intonation is awful, but I think it has a place in my collection.

Well, it looks like she's paying attention anyway! My wife got me a model Les Paul a couple Christmases ago. I have a Les Paul in a case somewhere, but you walk in "my room" and there are like 5 Fender (w/G&L) basses sitting around. I acted very pleased.

I'm having my doubts. The pick up spacing is a little off. What year is it?

It just has the 70s rear pickup spacing.

Pull off the neck and check the serial number.

Fender logo is wrong, spacing is wrong, too many pickguard screws, headstock looks funny, not enough frets.

But if it plays good, it is good.

I asked for a 35 scale bass, By that I meant 35 inches, not 35 millimeters!!
Hey, at least you got a Fender, all I got was a Schecter Custom.
