Will the neck fit the body

Looking at an American Pro ii precision bass body and wondering if the Fender roasted maple P bass necks will work.

The Am Pro ii bass has a 5 bolt config, but only 4 holes on the roasted neck. Will ONLY the Amer. Pro necks fit these bodies or do we have options/work arounds.

Basically, I can Frankenstein this bass for much less than the standard price. Found a new body without a neck and I like the roasted necks.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks guys. Just ordered the Amer. Pro ii P-bass body in black and all the accessories / hardware except tuners. Anybody know if the Fender® Lightweight Vintage-Style Keys with Tapered Shafts will fit in the Roasted P neck? Or any other options? I'd like to keep it close to (Fender)American Pro ii tuners as possible

The pre-drilled holes of the neck for the tuners should be 11/16" diameter so if the tuner bushings has the same nominal diameter they will fit.
Just make sure they fit well because most of the time, you have to enlarge the 11/16" holes in the neck with either a file or a reamer to avoid cracking it.
And the neck should come without the holes for the screws of the tuners.
Be aware that roasted maple is hard and brittle so be polite with it. Some times you have to drill holes a tad bigger for the screws to again, avoid cracking it.
Put some beeswax on the thread of the screws and don’t over torque, just un tighten if it becomes harder to screw.

Never done it yet but if the mating surface of the back of the neck and the inside pocket of body are the same size and you are willing to drill new holes, I would guess yes.
I would put them together temporarily before attempting any drilling or modification though.

I will do that.

I just have a feeling there is going to be a gap of some sorts. Yes, it will most likely fit the joint, but with the contour recess, it is tough to say.

Worst case scenario, send the roasted back and grab a Fender Amer. Pro. ii neck!

The Fender roasted maple neck fit perfectly, on the American Pro ii P bass. 2 week turn-around on getting the nut filed, neck on, tuners on & frets leveled.

Guess I will just play the Stingray Special until he finishes!
I just installed a MIM Fender jazz roasted maple neck on my beloved Squier jazz.

Didn’t have to drill new holes in the heel as they matched the body perfectly, had to enlarge the holes of the tuners with a round file just a bit and didn’t need any fret leveling.

The truss rod bow in the middle of the neck is only 0.003" higher on the G string compared to the E string, no ski jump anywhere and no fret buzz despite a very low action.

Quite honestly, I was surprised because I ordered the same neck 2 years ago and it was wavy and twisted in such way nothing could be done with it. I had a full refund from the store and had a sour taste but it’s no longer my feelings now.

Looks like it will be my best neck because it’s super light, resonant and rigid.

Looks real nice!

Only thing i am doing now is sanding off the satin on the P neck and gunstocking it.
