Winter Build Off 2018 - 30" telecaster

This evening's work, mounted the bridge and pickups. Tomorrow night, soldering...

So after my Amazon adventures, I went to ebay. I ordered a set from a guy that allowed to make an offer. He was asking $112 eash. I offered $100 each. I was refused.

Edit: I also put in a winning bid for a pair of used alumitones, but my bid did'nt get past the reserve
 
So I've had this plugged into the amp tonight... The two different types of P pickups do play well together. The split in the bridge spot has nice authority, and in parallel mode sounds like a jazz bridge pickup. The neck pickup however is strange, by itself its brighter than the bridge pickup, now when you pull the volume and turn on the "half out of phase" the darn thing just comes to life. The volume goes up a little and the tone is big and round and just demands to be heard (and felt). With both pickups there is a little volume drop (typical of blend pots). Pull the volume pot and the volume drop goes away and it sounds like two big-old humbuckers, totally not what I expected. :)
Once I get the string height and intonation set I'll try to record some and get it posted.
 
On a two pickup guitar it is supposed to simulate the 2 and 4 switch positions on a Strat. I have two guitars that I have put it in. Some playing around with the capacitor values and it sounds pretty good. As postalflunkie said, with just the neck pickup on, it give a nice bass cut that is also surprisingly useful. At least on guitar, I hadn’t thought to try it on bass.
 
Thanks! Hadn’t seen that approach before. So there are three things happening there:

1. Phase switch - hot becomes ground, and ground becomes hot.
2. Slight level reduction with the series resistor.
3. Bass cut with the series capacitor.

Having just been playing with the bass cut capacitor on my 4620, I know how that can really open up the mids, since it removes the lower-frequency cancellation interaction between the two pickups. If you then put the higher frequencies out of phase, that should make the upper frequencies thinner. Is that essentially correct (even though it’s an over-simplification)?
