I do tons and tons of worship gigs..

Have a swiss knife board just for the gigs.

x95 Wireless >>> ABY switcher (wireless or hard wired) >>>> Zoom b2 (tuner and different eq settings) >>>> MXR M80 (some sound guys prefer actual knobs - buffers from phantom) >>> Rolls PM351 (more me mixer with omni mic) >>> Shure Wireless IEM

With the above I can easily plug into just about anyone's system.... vocals... bass (or keys or guitar)... IEM or no IEM... Amp or No Amp.... wireless or hard wired (IEM or instrument)

This allows me to not have to learn a zillion different IEM setups.

IF playing at my primary church, it's bass --- and amp/cab built to match the rooms eq.

How is a "worship band" pedal board any different from a normal pedal board?
When I play for my church band, I don't have a collection of pedals specifically for worship. If you normally use an effect and it fits then use it. There is no right or wrong pedal for worship.
These "which -insert equipment here- for worship?", threads are becoming just as numerous as the "best for metal" threads.
Play any bass, amp and effect you want, God doesn't care, if you're heart's right that's all that matters. Right?

Once you play around, you'll be around places that are cordless.. only cords... amps... ampless... pedal boards are cool... you have to keep them out of the way... various types of IEM or monitors...

Then you'll realize many sanctuaries have different EQ points...

Then add some songs are now running compression and chorus... If you were playing with a very hot producer type guy, they'll look over and ask for a specific effect patch.

Then I'll add the number of churches that have gear that's not setup, eqs that are used for tone knobs... volunteers that are clueless and a committee who can't articulate loud... etc.

I also have an ipod RTA to do a sound level at room points.

I'm considering swapping my zoom for a line6 kidney bean... I'd then be able to send comressed/eqd vocals... still considering.

What kind of songs do you guys play in your churches? Original content? I'm honestly curious. Being Catholic, the band thing always intrigues me, but it's not as used in my church.

We play a lot of elevation and desperation band kind of worship. We're just now starting to write our own stuff!

We mostly play songs from well known Christian groups. Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, Hillsong, etc.. Upbeat, but not hard rockin'. We have a subscription with CCLI, so we pay for the rights to play other peoples' songs. We do have 2 people who write songs. We try them out now and then. So far, none of the originals have "clicked" with the congregation. They seem to like to sing the stuff they hear on the local Christian radio channel.

Being a youth band at a hispanic church, we play songs from: Hillsong United (translated), Marcos Witt, Danilo Montero, Rojo, Marco Barrientos... not that listing these singers/bands help lol. perhaps I should upload a vid of us..

here is a link to an example:

Hillsong UNITED - Take It All ft. JD - YouTube

I guess it's like a cover band?
someday I'll take a stab at original material

The times I've used effects at church, the effect has been almost unnoticeable (I prefer subtle effects) because the room sounds bad and it isn't mixed well anyway. I notice the difference more simply by changing pickup configurations and hand technique.

So that's just a Boss TU-2 for me. I'd like a preamp/DI pedal too, probably the Eden WTDI but I'll give them all a whirl (in my price range)

I am currently using a markbass compressore -> boss gt-10b w/ ehx bass microsynth in the effects loop

I have found that I use the bms to produce a very nice swell that fits well in a lot of low level worship. Gt-10b is for pretty much everything else (OD, fuzz, etc)

As for songs:
Some original, some elevation, some hillsong, some bethel live. We have a pretty broad range.

I really dig that man!

i laughed at the truthfulness of this.
i run sound at my church (and i also play bass but not with the worship team) and "how loud the bass is" is always a concern. don't people understand that because you can feel the bass it ISN'T a bad thing? i like the kick to hit you in the chest and the bass to rattle your feet!.

I am in the same role, but I do play with the P&W team - I have a couple guys that can run the board in a basic sense so I just set up the P&W/Choir/Band mix at rehearsal and they make only minor adjustments (singer too soft/loud etc). But yeah - was getting complaints about volume for awhile - we even had a deacon bring in a spl meter!! The funniest part about that fiasco was that his reading was loudest at the peak of the sermon - with no music playing. Long story short I told him to see our pastor if he wants him to quiet down.

Anyway - back to topic - no pedal board. We play contemporary stuff Marvin Sapp, Kirk, Donald Lawrence, Israel etc so mostly clean sound with bag racked U5 and dbx 160a
