YAMAHA TRB CLUB

Absolutely. I'm trying to find history on this
I was very surprised too when I saw a MIT Yamaha TRB6P a few months ago because I've never seen one before. Ever. Thought they were all made in Japan. And to be more funny, that was (TRB4/5/6P) their flagship model back in the '90s! Not to mention that in the taiwanese Kaoshiung factory they were making only the cheaper BB and RBX models (including the first RBX John Muyng signature bass which was not cheap but cheaper than the "standard" MIJ TRB6II at the time) but not any of the TRB models untill 2003 when they launched the TRB 1004/5/6 model that was made in Korea (except those misterious couple of taiwanese TRB5/6P) :eyebrow:. However my '91 MIJ TRB6P (sold it many years ago :rollno:) was an incredible bass indeed (pic below):

That said, now I have these two MIJ Yamahas ('98 TRB6II and '99 TRB5IIF):

Excellent basses as well, I love them both!

I, and a few people I spoke to, wondered if there was some issue with the line in Japan that forced them to move production temporarily to Taiwan. That's possible, and from what I have seen, the quality didn't suffer.

Just got this off reverb. made in Japan. Arrives in a few days. Had one for years in the 90’s. Was my main gigging bass for hundreds of weddings in the NYC region. Looking forward to the nostalgia it should bring.

Unfortunately, bass came with a broken Pot and a few of the other pots were in need of attention. Knobs pressed against the body. Sticking, needing lubrication. Played, sounded fine, but I have no desire to try and replace a Pot on a PC board based pre. Didn’t wanna look any more under the hood once I saw this…..

If I liked the bass enough I would probably have kept it. My brand new TRB JP2 I got 17 months ago had a couple of badly fitted pots, I had to superglue the metal insert to the pot on one of them to stop it spinning around. I live in Jamaica, so having the dealer deal with it wasn’t an option. Fantastic bass though!

are the pickups SC or HB any high gain players i'm doing a dabble in metal and the neck and bridge solo'd got buzz i'be messed with the trem pots in the back but to minimal success in the middle all the hum is gone.

granted i'm stacking a OC-2 into a TS and a Tone Reaper Fuzz.
