Yep..the new SX headstock

One thing I'm worried about is that the six string J's new headstock shape is a bit longer than the standard Fender-style headstock. The old 6 string models didn't protrude out much, so they could fit in most normal bass cases. This, however, sticks out what looks like an additional inch or inch and a half, which could make it unable to fit in some bass cases.

That said, I'm always down for a nice 6 string jazz, and with an Alder body for 170 bucks, it's hard to imagine regretting a buy like that.

Update. Tried adding the new Jazz with Sham-osky headstock to the cart, and they want about 20 bucks shipping. Tried again with the Sham-osky 6er and they want about 40 bucks for shipping. Can't imagine why, other than increase in box size or something. I'll email Kurt and see what's the dealio with that. It's still only like 200 bucks so it ain't bad but it's worth finding out for other TBers.

EDIT: Apparently the price hike is for any 5+ string jazz, not just the new ones.

I'm going to be ordering one of the Andromeda's this weekend. Which one do you think I ought to get?

I'm leaning toward the natural because of the one-piece body and possibility of lotsa good grain. I would eventually want to slap a tort guard on there because it looks so vanilla with the pearloid one. The burst one would be fine as is with the stock guard.

I had some parts lying around from old basses and put them in my Andromeda.
Sanded the neck to take off some gloss.
Changed to Aguilar HC's , 3 string retainer, changed to push pull 250k pots , and $40+ worth of tuners from Jason (basstringsonline.com)

The bass sounds great and Just a joy to play.. thanks for all the tips and advise guys.
