Yorkville bass cabs Wow I'm impressed.

OK so I normally gig with my SVT running through an Ampeg B25 cab with two 15's in it. I was looking to pick up a more portable set of cabs for practices and smaller shows and today found a set of Yorkvilles at the local shop. A 210B and 115B. Picked the set up for $350 Canadian! These cabs freaking rock lol. They pump out the bass huge and the mids are amazing as well. The 210 has a high boost and mid control as well. Anyone else use Yorkville cabs? I'm blown away. They are super light as well which is a huge plus. Post pics if you have em. I'm very interested in the older Yorkville cabs now.

I keep threatening to set up a tour of the Yorkville facility just down the road in Pickering. I’ll do that in the new year. :D

I've been in the building a few times but never into the manufacturing area, that's a tour i'd like to join in on. Last time I went through the Traynor factory was in 1969, I went to get some new power tubes for my YBA-3 when it was on Dundas St East located just above the DVP. They had a large 215 Standel amp sitting just inside the doorway to the factory, the employees would kick it every time they passed through that door. I thought it was an interesting observation on my part.

Ok I'll bite. What's the signifance or ritual of kicking the Standel all about? I always thought that Standel were cool amps when I was a kid. What is the connection to Traynor?

It was a competitors solid state product something that Traynor wasn't into at that time but would be a few years later. I assume the Traynor employees gave it a shot when passing by to boast their products overall superiority to Standel's solid state technology.

Probably just an effigy of sorts. It's kind of odd because they probably needed to buy that cab, thus supporting Standel. Also - did Standel have a Yorkville cab at their factory? I could see a YS15 or even just a yba-1 being used as a doorstop.

This is the stuff that keeps me up at night.

To stay on topic, I used a Yorkville 115 for a while that just plain kicked all kinds of things. Currently have a 1970 YS15 that I'm selling off for a move. My father also has a Yorkville 210 guitar combo with real spring reverb. Traynor/Yorkville make great gear, I've only had one bad experience.

I ran a SWR SM900 with those exact same cabs for over 5yrs. - fantastic cabs! The SM900 put out 800watts bridged mono into 4ohms which equaled 400watts into each 300watt 8ohm speaker cab and they took it really, really well, usually with a Ken Smith 5 string or an OLP Stingray copy passive 5 string with a loud rock band. Once in a blue moon would I see the Power Amp clip light flicker but I never heard any distortion or farting out from the speakers.

I too would love to take a tour. I have been in the building, when I dropped my YBA1 off for a once over as it had been sitting in a warehouse since 1973. Folks there were more than nice and extremely informative.
Given that I could probably walk there inside 20 minutes (a five minute drive!) I should be able to make any tour that could be set up.

I have the 410b (looks like the same line/aesthetics as yours). It sounds good, and it's built like a tank!
I think my dad picked it up at a local police auction for like $200 when I was 14 and just starting to play bass. I'm 32 now and I still have it. It's treated me far better than I've treated it over the last 18 years.

I had one of the blue fur 115s for years when I was younger. Sadly, I always thought it must be terrible simply because it was Yorkville, but ever since I finally got rid of it and "upgraded" to a variety of more famous brands, I haven't been as happy. Yorkville products are quite a lot better than I gave them credit for at the time.
